We liked our room and the whole place was cute. It looked nice lit up at night. It was a close walk to the beach and restaurants/shops. The only negative was the walk up the steps with our luggage. Next time, I'd choose a ground level room.

It has a good location and all basics what satisfied our needs. The property is becoming outdated and is in need of some updates and repairs.

The location is great, a short walk to the beach, but away from noisy bars. Clean apartment with aging furniture. We liked the outdoor spaces for hanging out, the patio for our unit and the pool area. The little pool has lots a shade, which is great in the heat of the day. But property maintenance is lacking, with broken furniture by the pool and "junk" lying around. With a little more maintenance, this would be a fantastic spot.

We had a great one night stay here while in Esperanza. I would come back for the good vibes and fantastic location. The room we had was large with a nice terrace and sitting room. The owner Skip is super friendly and helpful.

We absolutely loved our stay here. The location was excellent and only a stone's throw away from the restaurants and tour pick up locations. The vibe was lovely and the pool was quite beautiful. Check in process was easy and was a 10 - 15 min drive from the ferry. Only wish our stay was longer!

Skip was VERY accommodating, I came in early due to my ferry time (around 10:30am) and he was able to check me one time. Loved the lights around the property, the seating area outside of the rooms were nice to have breakfast surrounded by fresh air. Pool was well kept. The chickens were a bit noisy but it’s island life nothing to complain about. Restaurants and bars maybe 5-7 min walk down the street, transport to or from ferry terminal can be flagged from that main road. Only stayed one night as I was doing the bioluminescent kayak tour, Tortuga’s location was a short walk away from my tour’s meeting point. Would love to return 🙂

Skip is a personable host who has great insights to local dining options. The property was very convenient to walk to dining spots and is also a quick walk to the gazebo and river walk. We enjoyed our stay in the Gem Suite!

Meh at best. . .

Our stay got off to a pretty poor start and unfortunately did not improve much. When we arrived at check in time, no staff was available to check us in. All that was there was a phone number, which I called several times, that went straight to voicemail. I left a VM but no call back. After waiting about 45 minutes another frustrated guest knocked on the private residence door. Only at that point did Skip come out to “help” us check in (did he not hear 4 adults and one child right outside his door?). And he acted annoyed that we interrupted his lunch to check in. Very rude. As he showed us the property and our room, it was clear that the place has been neglected for quite some time. Our room was dark and dank and probably had not been cleaned after the last guests left. The worst was yet to come at about 3 am when the flock of aggressive roosters started blasting us from what sounded like right outside our room. Very little sleep to be had. Absolutely not worth the price. We’ve stayed at nicer hostels for $20/night. Needless to say I do not recommend Casa de Tortuga.

Horrible stay

Me and my family are very disappointed with our stay at the Casa da Tortuga in Vieques.We were charged ~$300 per night, so we expected a good room. The bathrooms were very dirty and toilets were stained, so much that my kids refused to use them. The floors were sticky. I tried to wipe them down.The AC in one of the bedrooms didn't have a remote and the temperature set was 77, so we were burning up. The temperature outdoors was in it's 89's so you can imagine how hot it would be. There were no kitchen paper towels either. The owner stays in the same villa and I called him 3 times and sent a message too, however there was no response. My husband went and told him about the AC and he said he will look into it. We never saw him. The stove wasn't working and the whole place looked unkept, dirty and dated. We booked this place because we thought that it would be cool to stay in a villa with limited guests, but we were surprised that the place wasn't updated at all. Would not recommended this to anyone.

It was walkable distance to the Bioluminescence kayak tour we booked at night. Right next to many restaurants in the area. Sunset/sunrise from the beach was very nice.

not worth for the money

Not worth for the money. very old, need to be very careful with use of curtains as they not assembled carefully. It is just hanging in there. Bed was not comfortable as it was falling on one side.

This place is charming but you must understand that it is not a regular hotel. They are little suites carved out of an old building. There are uneven surfaces. However, the pool is very nice. The landscaping is beautiful and the location is very good. Close to restaurants and the beach
