It was a pleasant stay in a clean, sparingly yet comfortably appointed room. In its 'heyday' it was a very nice place with attractive and appealing architectural details. It is well maintained today and I, at 81 years of age, appreciate its vintage and comfort. I will visit again.

The room had peeling paint on the ceiling and the bathroom walls. The bathtub needed to be replaced. We opted to not use it. The room had limited outlets. There was limited lighting, just in the room and bathroom. The little kitchen area did not have any lighting.

Terrible lighting; felt the springs in the mattress; three train whistle blasts in the middle of the night; no outlets for devices on two of the three walls in the main room; no lighting at all in the kitchenette. Worst motel experience in years!

The motel is in desperate need of renovation inside and out. Our room was in poor condition and was missing furniture.. Even the window next to the door was cracked. The tub in the bathroom looked pretty nasty, but the hot water was surprisingly decent. The train rolls next to the building throughout the night, horn blaring. The bed was super springy and the pillows were very thin and flat. Overall, the room was clean enough, but we did regret booking here. Out of a 10 day Colorado road trip, this was the only room we considered going elsewhere, rather than staying.

I love how simple it was. We absolutely loved the service and how friendly everyone was. If we need a hotel in the future while we are there we will definitely return to sands motel.

No one there

We arrived just before 3 in the afternoon and found the officeclosed and a sign that said return at 3. We waited untill 5:30 with no answer to our phone calls nor did anyone show up to open the office. We left and found accommodation at another place. We want a refund.
