You don't need to visit multiple overlooks in the skyline drive if you stay here. Easy 5 min hike of Black Rock trail on premise will be sufficient. It truly was a hidden gem for fantastic view! There was no air conditioner but a portable fan in my room. It wasn't super hot in July but a ceiling fan would have been nice.
Yes, there are bugs (flying insects and creepy crawlies but NOT roaches) that get in the rooms. They are not pristine but the rooms are clean and in an excellent location. The amenities worked for us (dining, shops with provisions, close to the visitor center, refrigerator in the room) but you really come to rest your head between hikes and take in the views. We were happy with our stay.
Really nice place to stay. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Dining was reasonably priced, short hikes nearby, and fun to watch deer in evening.

Considering the fact that we were right off of skyline Drive! It was pretty good however the air conditioning and it kept going on and off and when we first got there, they had problems with not having any power! It took them until late afternoon to fix the problem! However, the electric went off again the next day! Considering we are in a very remote area! Could not reach the outside world unless you had a special Wi-Fi set up! And you have to aim your phone up at the sky, reaching for a satellite availability anyway the weekend was very nice. Weather was great as well! Overall, it was a nice vacation.
Room was clean , area quiet. Small seating area outside room but view not as nice as it was several years ago since the trees have grown so much . Bed comfortable. Able to control room temperature. Mini fridge and coffee maker appreciated
The front desk staff wasn’t very forth coming with information or welcoming. Make sure to visit the visitors center if you want any park info - very helpful there.
Stayed with a friend to show her the park. Centrally located and close to all the best hikes. Room was comfortable, had TV and air conditioning too. A nice upgrade from a campsite.
Beautiful but very rustic. If you are looking for a hotel experience this is more like a cabin. We loved it and would stay again without hesitation, but you should know this going in. Food was fantastic. No cell service and the WiFi does not work well except for in the main lodge. Be aware of that going in.
Took an impromptu trip with my husband for the weekend and while on Skyline Drive we were fortunate that Big Meadows had some vacancies. Absolutely loved the lodge. Room was wonderful and the staff was exceptional nice. The property was great for hiking and enjoying nature. We encountered a lot of deer and chipmunks around the lodge which we enjoyed watching. The on site restaurant and store was nice. This was our first stay at Big Meadows and we will definitely stay there again!

Super friendly staff. Just what we expected it to be. Rustic comfort.
We love staying at the lodge but were disappointed this time with the dining options. The meals were ordinary and expensive at all three places in Big Meadow.
