Very good

Older hotel that has made updates. View of USS NC Battleship was a huge plus. Wi-Fi worked good. Air, TV, and bathroom good. The hvac was noisy but good with noise at night. Restaurant breakfast is definitely on beach time…very slow. Parking on site or valet.
Great hotel in downtown Wilmington. The room was a nice and clean. They have a great outside area where we sat and enjoyed the beautiful weather in the evening. We will definitely stay there again.

Pretty river view. Walkable to many Riverfront stores, restaurants and sights.
The lobby is nicely done but once we got to our room I was disappointed with our room. It looked worn and shabby. Furniture, carpet, walls all had any signs of wear and tear, with chipped paint and finishes and worn and dirty rug under the bed. The covering I round the box spring had stains and was very frayed at the corners. Bathroom was clean.

Location great.
Dated. HVAC barely worked. Not very clean. Placed in room beside elevators and it was extremely noisy.
Wilmington is a charming little town. I was on their own business. The ballast hotel did not disappoint! It was probably the best possible place you can stay in Wilmington.

My stay
There were unexpected cost. And i had to pay to park in their parking lot this should be included. Broken lap shade and no fridge.
We had a great experience when we stayed last week for a wedding. Check in was quick and easy, I enjoyed being able to use my phone for a digital key. Their cookies they have were delicious! Parking was convenient and we loved that it was close to shops, restaurants and more in town!
Have stayed at this property numerous times over the years with the last time just before Covid. When booking I was excited to see that the property had been rebranded and with that assumed that the property had been renovated with the rebranding. Alas no. Couple pieces of new furniture in rooms, updated lobby but rooms now seriously outdated and needing renovation.
Staff emphasized that I had booked through Expedia implying that you get what you pay for. They claim they will meet pricing on their website but more than $20 additional per night (Hilton Gold Member) so booked through Expedia as not having any problems previously.
Staff was abrupt but since they only had one person checking in and answering the phone (just like Hotel Six) I guess I would be grumpy as well. There were brown streaks by the toilet paper holder but didn’t ‘investigate (would you?). Couldn’t fill a glass in the sink as the new sink was shallow and the faucet 2” from drain. Toilet was running so opened the tank top to check. Don’t do that. Your stomach will churn.
Restaurants on-site un-inviting. Choose for outdoor seating which was ok but the property is dirty. Litter about. Parking lot shabby. Paid extra for a room with a river view but kept the drapes drawn as windows filthy. More grumpy staff at the bar. There was daily housekeeping but did not restock empty tissue box and washcloths.
Have been a Hilton member for over thirty years and this as well as a recent stay in AZ has soured me.
