This is an old Hotel, not kept up to date. You can’t control the temperature in your own room, but test by Management. The problem is that you have no choice of covers. All they give you only an heavy duvet, so that you have only two choices, either too hot with a duvet over or cold with nothing on you. The worst breakfast I have had in years. Terrible, terrible. Mostly full of pure fat stuff. Horrible English bacon cooked in the oven with coagulated fat stack to it, fatty sausage, dry as hell scrambled eggs, bottom of the barrel baked beens. The most horrifying coffee made by a machine whose manufacture should be out of business. The worst part is that I have to pay extra to get this terrible tasting poison.

Nice room although looked a little tired, bathroom needs updating and was only left 1 bath towell for the 2 of us on both nights we stayed? Then had to wait 15mins for extra towel

Good quality accommodation at a great price. The gym was very good the swimming pool was extremely disappointing not much more than a play pool. Rooms are large and well appointed. The breakfast is good and inclusive of the room rate. All in all a good experience.

Thumbs up: Spacious room, free weekend parking, and a great pool + Jacuzzi area that’s peaceful after 7pm (adults only). Breakfast was fresh, with a solid full English option. Self check-in was a bit clunky, but staff were friendly and helpful. Thumbs down: Room cleanliness could be improved and furnishings felt dated. Remote was missing, and staff entered the room twice unexpectedly — once to check the TV and again before checkout, which felt intrusive. Overall: Comfortable stay with good facilities, but room maintenance and privacy need attention.

Comfy but disappointing

We choose the village because it had a pool for our young girls as we were travelling to a dance competition that weekend so wanted somewhere we could unwind. Unfortunately after getting there after a long journey we were told that there were restrictions on when children can use the pool even though I had rang the day before to ask whether I needed to book etc as to which I was told no you are a guest so assumed we could use it within reasonable times. We also had to pay an additional charge to use the room which as a guest I don’t agree with. Our children had 10 mins in the pool luckily due to a kind life guard who could see there were not many people around even though the manager strictly told us we only had an extra 5 minutes. The rooms were dated and smelt of smoke. I think with some refreshment of rooms and maybe a look at guest usage of facilities this could be a nice hotel. Loved the use of Starbucks and the breakfast was basic but pleasant.

Wedding noise not ideal

I’ve probably stayed at this hotel 7 or 8 times this year and normally great however on this occasion there was a wedding reception being hosted downstairs and the noise from the first floor meant that sleep was really restricted which is disappointing.

Hotel could do with a major refurbishment. Most areas were looking tired and sad. Found room quite dark with elements of liquids being spilt on carpet and chair. I must say I am not a lover of buffet breakfasts, I have very rarely been to a hotel where I have enjoyed one. I was impressed with the gym facilities and it was well used by all and sundry.

Perfect stop for our purpose. Staff helpful and friendly. Hotel was very stuffy and warm.... Luckily had a fan in the room but rather uncomfortable.

The village half way there

Reception is a waste of time and not really personal also not able to just ask to have a room forced to book online frustrating Room cold and hot water is dangerously hot my mother is 88 years scalded herself bathrooms need better upto date white goods breakfast coffee poor cups to small but food ok except sausages wasn’t allowed to use pool even though I booked online with this facility

The Village Hotel is a great line of hotels! nice and unique yet modern design throughout. Restaurant has lovely food. Could be a bit cleaner, rooms were a little dusty. Otherwise, a great stay! Will be staying again!
