Expedia booking did not make it clear that use of the gym was not included in the price I had paid. I had booked the hotel because it had a gym I thought I could use. When checking in I was told I could only use the gym if I paid an additional £15. This is not what I was expecting

Somewhat obsessed with booking me in for breakfast 3+ days in advance of staying, Dir to availability, and it didn’t reach 50% capacity. WiFi in the room was poor, which hindered me working and watching a movie. Comfortable stay, lovely bar and fireplace area.

Fantastic spa hotel

We love this hotel, the decor is brilliant and very fitting for the Lake District. Pool and gym are great. But you have to pay £15 if you don’t book direct. EV charging. Lovely bar and restaurant

Appearances are only surface-deep

It’s appears that this Hotel must be struggling financially. They charge £15 per head for use of their pool and this is only shown in the fine print. The shampoo in your room is available for purchase at £26 a bottle but these aren’t new bottles - guests before you have also used them. Charging more than £50 for shampoo and conditioner is simply an insane price. The robes have supermarket-style antitheft devices on them, again suggesting a problem with cost management. The walls were so thin we could hear the guy next door coughing all night and at 6am kids were running up and down the hallway shouting like they were in a Travelodge. There were hotels nearby which were 30% cheaper which might have been a better choice.

Couldn’t fault any aspect of this hotel. The decor, ambiance, staff, cleanliness, all excellent. Rooms lovely, beds incredibly comfortable, spotlessly clean. Spa looked lovely and the restaurant and the food was amazing. We will be back.

Not a great impression £106 for the night, stained carpet. 2 beds put together for a "king size". Have to pay extra £15 for use of spa facilities, but this wasn't stated. Didn't eat here as waiting time was 3.5hrs.
