Fantasticly clean, well kept and friendly staff. The breakfast has a great variety of pastries, cereal to a full English. The bar is well stocked with a good variety of drinks and the bar menu is a great addition. Free WiFi is excellent. Only downfall was the height of the bed as my mum struggled to get up off it but we managed and it didn't damper our stay. We love it here and will return as we have before.

Web site states Parking & restaurant. The only parking available is away from the hotel at a very expensive rate. As I suffer from limited walking ability I found this completely unacceptable. We had to cut our stay short by 1 day and was offered no refund . Also there is no restaurant and only bar snacks available.

I recently had a wonderful short stay at the Hampton Piccadilly in York while visiting the historic city and its charming Christmas markets. The hotel’s location was perfect, allowing easy access to all the key attractions, which made exploring a breeze. The highlight of my stay was definitely the friendly staff, who went above and beyond to ensure a pleasant experience. They were always ready to offer recommendations and assistance, adding a personal touch that made me feel welcome. Breakfast was another standout feature; it offered a great variety of options, and the quality was outstanding. Starting the day with a delicious meal really set the tone for my adventures around York. Overall, I highly recommend the Hampton Piccadilly for anyone looking to enjoy a short getaway in York, especially during the festive season. It’s a fantastic base for exploring the city’s rich history and the delightful Christmas markets!

Room was small, bed too low, heating complicated. Breakfast - orange juice watery and tasteless, croissants tiny, only 1 flavour of v cheap jam available. No-one in charge here as far as we could see. Plus points - good location, bright rooms, cleaned by the time we had finished breakfast and to a high standard. Plenty of sockets and charging points and a decent hairdryer. Bathroom small but nice with good shower. Expensive for this quality.

Hotel was nice, nice room and breakfast. Room was cold overnight with draughts which kept us up, heating was controlled so couldn't change in the room. Housekeeping let themselves into our room before we had checked out as we were getting ready, no apology or anything, reported both to reception who just said leave it with us. A nice hotel, but turned into a poor experience for us.

The staff were all lovely and friendly, especially Katy who attempted to deal with our issue of a sewage smell coming from the bathroom sink (room 226). She came armed with cleaning products, but unfortunately this didn’t work, she informed housekeeping who also cleaned, but to no avail. Katy did offer us a move of room, but having done 2 nights, we only had one more to go, so left it. Hopefully maintenance have managed to fix the issue. We felt the hotel was very expensive for what you get. The queen room bed was only 5 foot, and very low to the ground (may be an issue for some people?) Being used to a larger bed, we did struggle, but that’s our problem. The headboard also smelt - oily heads (?), as did the sofa bed. The amenities tray was extremely basic - cheap Nescafé instant coffee, basic tea and UHT milk. No biscuits or sweet treats! No bottles of water or fresh milk. The toiletries in the bathroom were very nice. The breakfast is included, and provided you got down around 8.30/9.00ish, there wasn’t too big a queue. The food was fine for a buffet. We particularly enjoyed the natural yoghurt, seeds and fruit compote, followed by a little pastry! The hotel’s location was perfect. Close to the city centre and loads of eateries and right opposite the Spark street food area, which had a good choice of food. Better than the hotel’s offering, which was very limited! The hotel’s cocktails were great however! Expensive for what you get. Shame about the sewage smell
