Cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired.

This place is way overpriced. The cleaners clearly don't really clean. We had to hunt for the tv remote control, and found it under the bed. The shower head clearly needs descaling as jets come out in all directions. There are no windows which open so it gets very stuffy and dry with just the aircon to provide relief from the heat. The toilet isn't cleaned properly at all, there was urine splashes on the wall at either side of the toilet. I made reception aware and showed them pictures, and they just said sorry. Not really good enough. I'd upload the photos but it isn't allowing me to.

The room was adequate, would have liked water in the fridge at least. The reception staff were wonderful, however the bar staff particularly the female manager was rude and a lit arrogant. Customer service skills need a rethink. Great location not too noisy traffic wise however early morning delivery 6am were a bit too noisy.

Modern, clean hotel with a few minor quibbles

Very modern, stylish hotel in a very convenient location in the heart of the city centre, walking distance from the station. A couple of minor quibbles; we were given drinks vouchers in exchange for opting out of housekeeping, which was a very nice touch, but we were told that it was a voucher for £7.50 each. However, when I used it at the bar for two soft drinks, the barman didn't return the voucher, and when I asked for it back he told me to go to reception to get another one. When I did this I was told I could only get a second one the next day. So basically it wasn't a voucher worth £7.50 each; it was a voucher for ONE DRINK each UP TO the price of £7.50, but that was not explained! Also, I'd booked a twin room and when we got to the room the beds were together in double bed formation, so we had to push them apart ourselves. Finally, there was nowhere to hang coats other than in the wardrobe. But other than that, it was comfortable and clean.

Great hotel in York

Very nice modern hotel in the centre of York. Rooms are nice, although as with most hotels now the lighting is limited. Breakfast was very good - cooked to order.

Loved the location—it’s a ten minute walk to the Shambles. Love the aesthetic of Malmaison—arty, modern, chic, yet comfortable. Amazing service and food in the grill, too.

Generally fine

Great location, 5 minutes walk from station and same from town centre. Hotel fine, room nice enough, breakfasts really good. Only issue was we'd booked for dinner in Sky Bar, but due to them being busy we were given a drinks table - Seats very low, made eating a meal awkward. Sky Bar service also slow (about 20 minutes before they took our drinks order) but as I said they were busy...
