Arrived for 2 day stay 2 ladies mum & daughter. Lovely receptionist kept bags whilst we went straight out. Came back to a family room with a sweat/BO smell in one of rooms. The bathroom was nice but unfortunately the shower needed a deep clean. We used the bath instead but I did show the duty manager the photos of its condition before we left. We had a very unfortunate experience-we were awoken by loud hammering on the door at 7:30am despite a do not disturb sign with a man saying he was maintenance & we had perhaps left the bath on- he barged past to check & quickly realised we had been asleep & not left the bath on! There was a leak downstairs apparently. I later made a complaint that no man should have come knocking & demanding to be in a room where there was only women. I can only finish on a positive & say we had two wonderful meals in Sora & chez mal whilst we were there, the staff & the food were amazing.

Enjoyable brief stay

Was pleasantly surprised by hotel, room was nice, rooftop bar a bonus although there was an unpleasant smell drifting into rooftop from somewhere. Breakfast service and food was excellent. Would stay again and hope the smell was a one off

York has a lot to offer

Lobby restaurant better than roof-top restaurant. Shower very good. Toiletries plentiful. Too many unmarked light and electrical switches. Luckily some seemed to come on automatically. Location is excellent for trains and easy walking access to York Minster and the tourist attractions. National Railway Museum currently very distant to access, due to reconstruction.

Great overall stay.

Loved our two night stay. Lovely room, bar and breakfast areas. Rooftop bar was an added bonus. Breakfast was really lively and all sraf very attentive. Great location. Would highly recommend.

We had the standard room which was fine nice and clean, bed very comfy, roof bar and food on roof bar was delicious, all staff in hotel were super friendly, breakfast was amazing, worth every penny. Will definitely stay here on our next visit to York👍

The property is well located for a stay in York, convenient for the train station and also for access to the city centre. It was clean and the room was well appointed. Lovely roof top bar giving a view across the city. Breakfast was good.

Bar and dining staff were very helpful and friendly. Room was really nice A bit disappointing that reception were not able to allow us to get into our room an hour early to change clothes for an event we were attending just after 3. Surely there would have been rooms available by 2pm?
