Spending some much-needed "you" time in Miyagi? You can choose from a small but nice selection of places located within a 10-kilometre distance of Zao's downtown lights.

There are a number hotels that are within a 5-kilometre radius of Zao's heart, including the Miyagi Zao Royal Hotel and CHIKUSENSO Mt.Zao Onsen Resort&Spa.

Check out the Oohira Hotel and the Sendai Royal Park Hotel. The Oohira Hotel can be found 18 kilometres away from the heart of Zao. The Sendai Royal Park Hotel is located 35 kilometres away. The Comfort Hotel Yamagata and the Hotel Route-Inn Yamagata Ekimae are two other accommodation options around Zao.

The larger Tohoku region is certainly worth exploring also. Visit the ruins in Tohoku, or simply head off with that someone special and enjoy the area's forests and lakes. Energetic travellers can also try snowboarding, skiing and tobogganing here.

Tagajo is 40 kilometres to the northeast of Zao and is where you'll find the Tohoku History Museum and Taga Castle Ruins. Sendai Airport is the nearest preferred airport and is 30 kilometres from central Zao. Hotels that are nearby are the Hotel Route-Inn Natori and the Weekly-Sho Sendai Natori.
