I stayed at the CitizenM Amstel property in June 2025 for 2 nights. The room was larger than other hotel rooms I’ve experienced in Amsterdam. The air conditioner worked tremendously well which I find rare for Europe. The room was VERY clean (I’m very picky about cleanliness) and VERY quiet (I had a room overlooking the garden). The location isn’t super walkable to many of the tourist attractions, but it is next to the bus / metro which allows for easy transport between neighborhoods. The lobby had a nice bar area and offered a filtered water spout with carafes to take to your room. They also had free umbrellas which is very handy in Amsterdam. I would definitely recommend this hotel to someone who is looking for a clean, safe and reasonably priced hotel and doesn’t mind jumping on the bus or metro to get to some of the main tourist sites.

The staff here really made this stay a great experience. Always ready to help in any way possible. Also the rooms are small but the have everything you need and they are quiet. The location is a big plus, with 2 great dining options - one on each side of the hotel. I will stay here again.

Modern hotel

It was very good hotel with convenient location. The best experience was the check-in process and possibility to control the room light, climate, TV, curtains using their app. The only disappointing piece was the window view on the inside yard with some industrial building.

This is a great base for a visit to Amsterdam. Good location, good transportation links, very quiet rooms (we stayed on the back side), free bikes, really good breakfast

citizenM Amstel Asterdam too small

Too small. Bed jammed into the room to maximize space depending on the room, you crawl over your mate or everyone crawls out the foot of bed. No place to put your luggage. Have to step over it on floor after you crawl out. One chair. Entire room runs on a tablet. Lights. Blinds. TV. Heat. Probably appeals to the young demographic they are targeting, but feels a bit like they are trying too hard. Would rather be able to pass the other person in the room, without having to turn sideways while crawling into the bed. Not that great of a value when you consider the tiny space. Friendly staff. Very clean.

Good clean hotel close to the Amstel and an underground station. Nice (non corporate) decor and very friendly staff. Didn’t have breakfast as Bakhaus bakery (inc eat in sales) next door. My only issue (and I knew this when we booked) were the bathroom facilities as the wash hand basin is located in the sleeping area, rather than in the shower room. Also very limited soundproofing to the WC so you have to be good friends!

very nice place and awesome staff, just a small problem with the bed, all beds are surrounded by 3 walls so you'll need to climb in from the foot of the bed and scoot up to the pillows, not good for anybody with disabilities or over 50.
