It's a beautiful historic hotel in an unbeatable location. I enjoyed my stay here. The service at the check-in desk and concierge was great. The housekeeping was thorough, and I always returned to a fresh room. I appreciated the free room upgrade that I was offered for my Expedia VIP status, as many hotels do not honor this. I did pay an extra 100 Euros for an early check-in, but I was able to check-in at 9AM after a long flight. I checked-in on a day that promised to be over 100-degrees, and the hotel lobby was very warm and stuffy, but my room was a comfortable temperature. I would have liked to open my windows at night, but my room faced some sort of loud machinery (maybe an HVAC system? ) that forced me to keep my windows closed. Some things could have been better. My room was rough around the edges. There were stains on the lampshades, bed skirt, and headboard. The shelf in the shower was broken, and the minifridge had a crack in the door. The service at breakfast was lacking for the price. It is entirely self-service, down to even having to brew you own tea. When I asked a waiter for water he said "You will find it" and walked away. Well, I couldn't find it because they were out and it was 10 minutes before they replaced it. I really expect more for a 45 Euro breakfast at a hotel like this. So, while I might recommend a stay here based on the location of the hotel, I am not sure that it is worth the price they charge.

The property is a classic old style hotel from the 1800s that is beautifully adorned with chandeliers, marble floors , a library , piano bar and superb front desk staff. There is always helpful staff to assist in any questions related to the hotel , dining and directions to highlights. The rooms have 12 door ceilings with high quality finishing and are generous in size. One issue is that they advertise that the rooms are air conditioned and that is not accurate. They have a fan vent 1 of them with a control for fan speed. Only moderate cool air but certainly not air conditioned. I discussed this with the front desk and I was correct and they plan on having proper air conditioning in the hotel next year. The indoor restaurant Oscars having no air conditioning nor a ceiling fan is stifling in the hot weather we encounterd in beginning of July plus Very Expensive. It is well located with great shopping out its front door , Starbucks accross the street and old town Frankfurt within 4-5 blocks.
