100% recommend as highly as we can!! From the charmingly appointed room (small, but normally sized for area) to the quaint balcony, and the generously provided breakfast and all day snacks, This was the perfect hotel for our first trip to Barcelona. Perfectly located along La Rambla across from the Catalunya Metro station, everything we want to see was an easy met ride away. La Rambla never sleeps, But the rooms are well insulated and we slept wonderfully. And since we were traveling from the US, We appreciated having the charming balcony to watch the activity below as we adjusted to the time difference. I cannot say enough about the wonderful service from the staff at this hotel! So helpful with information about the history of Barcelona, places to go for fun and for tapas, As well as assistance regarding the metro. Barcelona has a fantastic metro system, which we did not have any experience with where we are from... The staff at Hotel Continental helped us understand how it works, which really help us get comfortable using it!!! If you are looking for a hotel In Barcelona that is worth absolutely every penny (yet very competitively priced for the area), you should stop looking and reserve this one. They will take great care of you!!

Good location, basic amenities which were fine but nothing particularly special. The 24 hour “buffet” is very basic and honestly unappealing most of the time given that the same food sits out all day long. Coffee, soda and beer was nice, but the wine was AWFUL.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The staff were helpful and informative. The location was ideal being on La Rambla and near public transportation. It’s also not too far from the airport. I walked most places anywhere from 5 to 30minutes. The Barceloneta beach is about a 30minutes walk away or you can use the public bus which was great seeing as there is no pool on the facility. There is an all day buffet which was great so it made decisions about when or where to eat easier. I had a room with a balcony which was the icing on top of the cake, bc there is nothing like sitting on the balcony early morning or later in the evening and just looking over La Rambla as people walk by.

It is an older hotel, but our room was spotless. We stay there every year and it is always great. It is located in a very busy street, but the windows are sound proof. They have a cute outdoor space for eating, and a good selection of items to eat and drink, free of charge, 24/7. As I said, it is a very old hotel, but for me, a good for me. Centrally located for the restaurants I like to visit.

Weird and unsettling experience

Because of a flight delay, we checked in at 2am. The hotel door was locked and it was not at all clear which doorbell we had to push (there are several businesses in the building, including an unrelated hostel). We apparently got it right because the door eventually buzzed for 1/2 second - not long enough for us to know to try it. It took 2 more times before we finally got in. At the 2nd floor (where reception is) it felt like we were getting off in an industrial building, but a padded door popped open on the right, letting us into a carpeted area that reminded me of movie depictions of early 20th century brothels. After checking in, we checked out the "24-hour buffet" which was not much more than some buckets of canned fruit. To get to our room, we had to be buzzed out back to the elevator, then buzzed in again to our floor. Everything was being monitored from the desk by camera. To leave the floor, we had to pick up a phone by the door. It was very weird. The room itself was reasonably comfortable except that there were very few electrical outlets and every single one of them was damaned (ground pins bent up so that a plug could not be seated properly). Charging our phones was hard. I'm glad our stay was only for one night. Location was good except it is best to take a taxi to the nearby square and walk, as driving right to the door is a very long way around to get on a limited-access street.

The staff were great, friendly and helpful. The website was a little misleading however. The bar was two containers of wine in the fridge and one tap of beer. Laundry service was available, however, the laundromat was four blocks down the street. For the price, there better places we could have stayed for about the same price.

Hotel on La Ramblas

Unfortunately, I was rather disappointed with our stay. However, I must say first off that the staff was amazing. The lady at reception was so attentive to us, and remembered us every time we walked past. The hotel itself disappointed me. The photos are misleading. It is hard to get to the reception, the whole hotel is a maze of narrow halls and staircases, and just felt so old. Our room was decent and clean. The hotel advertised that they are all-inclusive with buffet all day. Technically, this is true. But it’s really only food at breakfast, and then snacks like chips and fruit left out for the rest of the day. For the price, I really should have chosen another hotel in the area with a rooftop sitting area with hot tub, there were really no amenities here to impress.

Perfect location on The Rambla, very helpful and friendly lady on reception, nice room good air conditioning. Good breakfast and help yourself to snacks and drinks in the evening if you needed. Would stay here again.
