Great location, grand old hotel Floor coverings need a good clean. Better furniture planning for a double room, for example 2 chairs, not 1 old uncomfortable one. Staff very friendly and obliging.

Lovely hotel in fantastic location Being woken at 4 am by police in the corridor not so much No idea what caused this The room had a great renovated bathroom and comfortable mattress but the horrible sauce stain on the carpet was not ideal. Overall good

Enjoyable stay and our room was perfect for our stay. Very old heritage hotel, but also very tired. Could do with a spruce up. Mid city and relatively easy access to most things. Parking was inconvenient having to use 2 hour parking meters, then the multiple story car park for a few hours. Had to leave the car parked out in the street overnight because the car park closed at 9.30 and the concert we attended didn’t end till after 10. The staff were very friendly and helpful and breakfast and lunch in the dining room was very nice, good selection and not overly expensive. Would stay there again.

The hotel was excellent but the service from wotif was abysmal in all aspects. The hotel was unaware of our changed booking dates and we were charged for their total lack of service. The reception staff were excellent and understanding, Hotel 5 Star: wotif minus 5 star.

Beautiful hotel . Family room was very spacious . The ladies at the front desk were so helpful . We were there 3 days so did not require room service but if you need all you had to do is request . The cleaning staff provided us with coffee when we ran out on the 3rd day. We had a car and if wanted to park in the car park around the corner they would give $6.00 per day voucher . As we were out through the days we parked outside overnight free between 5.30pm and 8.30am weekdays free all times weekend and long weekends but on Saturday time limit still applies 8.30am to 5.30pm.

The room was disappointing. There was no bulb in the second bedside lamp. The shower was dreadful. The air conditioner noisy. No real option to open a window. The bed too soft. Weird door entry.

Sadly, The Shamrock isn't a patch on it's old self. Carpet was very stained. Wifi had NO password. Lamp on side table has something sticky where you turn it on. Ewwww. I was on the noisy side, so that was unpleasant as well. I'll give it a miss on my next trip to Bendigo

We have chosen to stay in Hotel Shamrock for our 46th wedding anniversary because of its central position and a wonderful feel of yesteryear (we also stayed here in 2018). We were upgraded to Nellie Melba room. A lovely gesture on the part of hotel staff. The room was so spacious we could dance a night away here. The hotel has a few “wrinkles” and “saggy” bits here and there, but the charm is irreplaceable. We will be coming back next year for the irreplaceable charm of the old world and the friendliness and kindness of the staff.

This is an old grand beautiful hotel which is upgraded, so rooms are large and prices are reasonable. We had a two bedroom unit which was completely private with a large common area and bar-fridge/ coffee making etc. bedrooms were large with king sized beds. There are sockets for bedside lamps but there weren’t lamps, a minor fixable issue. Interesting tourist attractions nearby include art gallery, trams, library, Chinatown museum(very interesting), many restaurants and shops. We also loved nearby parking station free to us on the weekend. Overall, highly recommended. Took photos from every vantage point of beautiful wooden panels, stairs etc and lead light glass. Loved it. B from Brisbane.
