Romantic and cozy castle getaway!

We enjoyed the stay at Kokkedal Slotshotel a lot. The castle itself is impressive and cozy, with lots of historical details to get see. The hosts were incredibly friendly and welcoming.

Again we were given the worst room in the hotel. I believe that happens when you book through a 3rd party site. Our room was next to the stairs and the large banquet space where a party was going on.

Beautiful castle, but food is not extraordinary

Beautiful castle and suroundings. The food was okay but not extraordinary. We really missed an explanation to the dishes and wines. Had booked the wedding suit, but got a normal room.

Great experience and stay at this beautiful castle

It’s an absolutely beautiful castle! So much history. We loved it, and our kids loved it! It also has a good size swimming pool. There are several huge dinning rooms, and a dozen smaller cozy rooms for drinks and snacks, all kept in the old fashion way from the 1600’s. The rooms are beautiful and well kept. You can walk around the whole castle and even see the basement, that is kept original from the 1200’s. It’s in a forest, and that adds to the coziness feeling too. Overall, great experience, beautiful castle, friendly staff. Well worth a stay!

Rædsom oplevelse

Rædsom oplevelse. Den gamle slotsbygning er i nogenlunde stand, men renoveret af folk uden sans for opgaven og detaljen. El-installationer flyder over det hele og er uprofessionelt udført. Omgivelserne skæmmes af flere uskønne 70'er huse placeret i det der kunne være en idyllisk slotspark/have. Man kan lige akkurat snige sig rundt om voldgraven uden at vælte ind i disse private haver. Der er således ingen udsigt fra slottets område men i stedet fremstår lokaliteten rodet og vedligeholdelsesmoden. Toppen af kransekagen er at en komplet udtjent Peugeot Partner som "pryder" slotsgården i et hjørne hvor mælkekasser og andet god dominerer. Bilen er fuld af skrald og har vist ikke kørt i mange år. Det er muligt at værelserne i hovedbygningen er pænere, men vi boede i en nærliggende staldbygning som er indrettet som ferielejligheder. Dette blev naturligvis ikke oplyst ved reservation. Staldbygningen er indrettet i billige Silvan/Ikea materialer og nedslidt, temmelig langt fra en slotsoplevelse. Slottets restaurant er på det jævne. Maden var nogenlunde, mens personalet er venlige, men utrænede, ukvalificerede og udygtige. Stedet reklamerer med indendørs pool, men da vi var forbi var der så forfaldent og snavset i poolområdet at ingen følte sig fristet. En lampe hang ud af svømmebassinets væg med blottede ledninger, ikke just en betryggende detalje. Alt i alt en rædsom oplevelse som langt fra var pengene værd.

A badly rundown place with an impressive name. Hardly any facilities. Room service without a phone in the room. Advertised wifi non-operational. TV bad reception and only one English speaking channel. No tea/coffe making facilities in room.

Magnificent

A magnificent setting and an amazing building. Theis is a genuine castle with all the charm and elegance that you would expect. The room was sumptuous- spacious and luxurious. Exceptional value and very friendly staff. Highly recommended. If you have to detour to stay here it is well worth the experience.

Kokkedal Slotshotel

A very peculiar hotel, crammed full of reproduction antiques and ornaments, but lacking in atmosphere and warmth. It has one of those restaurants where you can hear the cutlery chinking and the guests feel they have to whisper. Bedrooms looked like they had been decorated by Liberace. My room (20) was very impractical - so jammed full of furniture that it was difficult open the window and impossible to open a suitcase. Shower room archaic but clean. Bed very saggy and no choice of pillows. No phone in room. It has the feel of somewhere which only comes to life with house parties or weddings - why else would you have about half a dozen reception rooms, all kitted out with very camp sofas and chairs but completely devoid of guests, in high season? Breakfast was very good indeed. Very annoying to be surcharged for using a "foreign credit card".

de mest fantastiske omgivelser smuk natur og udsigt fra gården til marker og fjord det er så fantastisk at kunne gå på opdagelse i rundt på det gamle slot hvor jeg faktisk boede i min barndom for 38 år siden jeg var en af de sidste der boede der inden det blev til hotel så et var en meget særlig oplevelse at værre tilbage hvor det glæder mig så flot de holdet slottet og der er så meget åbent man kan gå rundt i og sidde i salonerne

Virkelig den dårligste oplevelse jeg nogensinde har oplevet, og jeg har oplevet meget. Magen til amatør sted skal man lede længe efter, en kok som ikke kan lave mad, en tjener som ikke aner hvad en alkoholfri øl er. En pool som mere lignede voldgraven end en pool, nej aldrig igen.
