So many of Costa Rica’s boutique lodges in the Osa peninsula have been bought up by corporations and are remodeled to become boring and predictable with a corporate feel . They’re all the same now!!! Luna Lodge has NOT sold out. !! The lodge is still owned by its original creator and still maintains its originality , creativity , and friendly feel!! The tours were amazing especially the Corcovado trip (we saw an anteater, spider monkeys , a crocodile , countless rare birds, and squirrel monkeys). And we loved the lagoon kayaking tour . Mauro was our guide and he’s incredible and genuinely gets as excited as we did each time we spotted a new creature ! I will definitely be back and highly recommend going here - avoid the corporate owned lodges in the Osa like the plague ! Thanks to the owner and her team for giving us a memorable stay !
Luna Lodge is a magical place! Lana and her extended family of staff have created a true haven in the midst of the unspoiled magnificence of the Osa Peninsula. The design and aesthetics are in complete harmony with the natural surroundings. The dense with flora and fauna jungle and pristine ocean are literally at your doorstep. All meals are prepared and eaten together on the property, and they are fresh, local and delicious. Many of the ingredients are grown on the property. Luna Lodge also holds yoga and meditation classes, offers spa services of many different types, and indeed has developed its own curriculum and teacher training in yoga and other spiritual practices. There are hiking and beautiful waterfalls on the property. The hosts also can organize all kinds of outings for you, depending on your interests and level of fitness. The guided visit to Corcovado National Park just next door is not to be missed. This is not a luxury lodge. It's better -- like a harmonious extended family welcoming you to a more tranquil, vibrant and celebratory way of life in one of the most biodiverse spots on the planet. It is truly restorative. Thank you Lana, Mom, Amed and the whole team for a glorious visit. I will be back -- regularly! Michele
The Luna facility does offer an isolated and peaceful rest, as advertised, but the site shows a beach that does not exist anywhere near, talks of "boogie boards" and to reach a beach takes at least an hour with most not useable because of bad ocean currents. Beyond that, all of the huts and tents are reachable on steep and uneven paths, frequently slippery because of moisture without any lights in this dark forest. We are aged with some disabilities, thinking that we would enjoy the beach. A disappointment. That said, healthy and agile folk, the site is quite nice. The staff is overwhelmingly helpful. The food is good.
Beautiful accommodations in a beautiful location. We really enjoyed the pool and the nearby hiking trails. Waking up to the sounds of howler monkeys right outside of our tent was incredible. Oh, and the food was amazing! My only complaint was that when I showed up for their daily yoga class there wasn’t any yoga to be had. Otherwise our stay was perfect and we will definitely return!
This place was fantastic - from the glasses of water served immediately upon pulling in and the check-in process, through the entire stay itself (and the plenty of activities, the wonderful meals, and the fantastic staff), to the very end, it was a perfect time! Lana, the owner and manager, is great; and Marlon the tour guide made this visit unforgettable!!!
Luna lodge is a unique experience , located in the heart of the forest with dedicated stuff and lots of wildlife all around . We enjoyed every moment .
This place is one of the most beautiful places to stay for a truly original Costa RiCan eco stay. We stayed in a bungalow and enjoyed watching the untouched forest on the mountains across the valley. We had the pleasure of seeing many varieties of flora and fauna right on the hotel property. That’s being said do not miss your chance to visit one of the last untouched forests of Costa Rica at the Corcovado National Park.. Marlo was an amazing guide and ensured we were able to view a plethora of animals including seeing the elusive squirrel monkey, sloths, anteaters and even snakes. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit this place and support the owner in her quest to protect the lands surrounding this beautiful property.
Awesome place. If you want isolation this is the place. You won't be alone, Lana, mama, Marlon, Raquel and the team are a treasure. They will help you with all your needs. Yoga, massage, pool, tour to the park, won't be disappointed.
Oh My! Luna Lodge is a wonder in the middle of paradise. We arrived just before sunset and sat on our porch watching the colors in the sky change to orange and red as the misty fog drifted across the mountains. It was that perfect scene photographers like myself dream of. Infact, I cried with joy, so happy to witness such beauty.
'Mom' and Lana invite you, as if you are family, to join in informative discussions and light hearted conversations.
So grateful that Lana chose to create this beautiful vision that so many get to enjoy.
Plan on staying for longer than you think because once you arrive it will be hard to leave.
Lana, the owner, and all of the staff made you feel part of their family while providing excellent service. All meals are provided and were tasty and healthy. Sitting at the edge of Corcovado National Park, that you can’t drive or fly to, feels very remote and
Quite an amazing place. The owner and staff were amazing! Highly recommend for the nature lovers or for anyone wanting to get away from the craziness of our world these days
Luna Lodge is like a dream come true. This was my first trip to Costa Rica and it surpassed my wildest expectations. Luna Lodge is a gorgeous resort in the OSA Peninsula. To get there, you have to travel a dirt road and cross a few small rivers with a 4 wheel drive vehicle. On the way you will see monkeys, owls, sloths, crocodiles and many other amazing creatures. Mom served as hostess at Luna Lodge. She is actually the owners mother but everyone calls her mom. She is lovely and made sure that everyone had what they needed and that they were happy. We hired a private guide Javier Mendoza. He worked at the lodge when he was younger. He is a gem and a wealth of knowledge. My husband and I are leaving parts of our heart in the OSA peninsula and at Luna Lodge
Beautiful tranquil setting with the most attentive staff possible.
No was not in anyone's vocabulary. Due to nature of terrain must be physcially fit and if staying in the tents would suggest tent A or tent B as the climb can be quite a challenge for the over 50 crowd. I stayed in tent B and absolutely loved the outdoor setting and feeling of being in nature.
Would love to get a chance to visit again
Luna Lodge is the epitomy of sustainable ecotourism with a twist. Elegance. I am intentionally not using the word luxury because I think we often associate that word with artificially created physical comfort (aka airconditioning, and unlimited hot water) If you are going to the Osa peninsula to be imersed in one of the most biodiverse environments on the planet part of that experience will be discovering your body's natural ability to adapt and regulate itself. That being said the lodge is stunning and Lana runs every thing she does like the gracious host of an intimate affair. We stayed for 10 days and were never bored. We did many of the excursions and were especially impressed with our guides Jimmy and Kerlay. Both were native Costa Ricans with infectious enthusiasm for the wildlife they showed us. Jimmy is a published entamologist who's expertise one would expect to find only at a top university. Kerlay is the kind of person an injured Macaw would go to for help quite simply a kind human being. I cant begin to describe Lana I will only say that it is worth the trip to discover her for yourself. Last comment. If you go for the nature, try the yoga, if you are going for the yoga try the nature. You will not regret it!
