Holidays in Causeway Bay
You'll probably regret that fourth whisky and wolfing down that 2 a.m. kebab, but you’ll never regret travel. So we reckon it’s about time you explored Causeway Bay, Hong Kong! With around 7,000,000 people calling this city home, you're bound to meet some new friends while you're in town. Landing at Shenzhen International Airport? Toss your bags into a taxi and make your way 55 kilometres southeast to get to Causeway Bay. If you're coming from the centre of the city, you'll be travelling 3 kilometres to the east.
With many of the city's best sights close by, Causeway Bay is a wonderland for sightseers. From Soho to the International Finance Centre, you aren't going to run out of things to keep you on the move. After taking a look at those, you're going to want to head onwards to the Madame Tussauds and Lan Kwai Fong. For a new perspective on Hong Kong, head to Tin Hau and Wan Chai Road, nearby neighbourhoods just waiting to be explored.
Causeway Bay is not far from Ocean Park, a famous attraction that attracts visitors from all corners of the world. It sits just 4 kilometres to the south.
You’ll never be lost for things to do in the city centre. Pacific Place and the University of Hong Kong will keep you busy for hours. To get an even better feel for your surrounds, also call in at Victoria Park and Flower Market.
Need some time away from the kids? Find a babysitter and go to the Happy Valley Race Course and Jumbo Kingdom.
A few interesting cultural attractions are within easy reach. Start at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, the Edge Gallery, the Hong Kong Arts Centre and the Grotto Fine Art.
If you've got a love of art, don't forget to visit the Hong Kong Museum of Art, the Asia Art Archive, the University Museum and Art Gallery and the Cattle Depot Artist Village. Walk around and if one of the works grabs your attention, chat to the staff about its background.
Sometimes it's the biggest and best exhibits that catch our eye. Other times it's a small artifact that's been hidden away in a dark corner. Keep a lookout for both at the Hong Kong Space Museum, the Police Museum, the Hong Kong Science Museum and the Hong Kong Museum of Medical Sciences.
The measure of an excellent performance tends to be how deafening the applause is when the curtains go down. Watch the audience rise to their feet at the City Hall Concert Hall, the Sunbeam Theatre, the Yau Ma Tei Theatre and the Ko Shan Theatre.
Nothing beats a holiday with the kids to help you see life in a new light. Unleash the child within at the Victoria Peak Tram, the Hong Kong Central Library and the City Hall Public Library.
Are the kids starting to get restless with all the sightseeing? Have some time out and head over to some of the nearby family-friendly attractions. Middle Road Children’s Playground, Lung Fu Shan Country Garden and the Hong Kong Observation Wheel are some well-known choices.
Nothing relaxes the mind like the sounds, sights and smells of the natural world. Experience it for yourself at Sky 100, Repulse Bay Beach, Middle Bay and High West Peak.
Get some exercise at the Hong Kong Zoo and Botanical Gardens and the Charter Garden. A hike through any one of these green reserves is guaranteed to recharge your spirits.
If the liveliness of city life is wearing you out, recharge your batteries in one of the local green spaces. Kowloon Park, Fa Hui Park, Kowloon Walled City Park and Hong Kong Park are charming spots to kick off your shoes and relax under a tree.
Stock up on the basics or look for a few unusual mementoes. You'll find everything on your list at Habour City, Nathan Road Shopping District, Ladies' Market and Times Square Shopping Mall.
