The Planters Inn is absolutely charming. We loved the ambience, location, and staff. If we are ever in Charleston again, we will definitely be returning here!
We had a great experience. Wonderful room. It rained while we were there but that was ok we just enjoyed hanging out in our room. Definitely will book again.
Gregory is a phenomenal asset to this establishment. He was very helpful, informative and professional. The hotel was.exceptional in every way- safe, very clean, and quiet. The decor was very elegant and fun to look at. My girlfriend and I enjoyed our stay and plan on this our go to spot to stay when visiting Charleston.
We liked the location - easy walk to everything downtown in the historic district. We liked that it is a historic hotel.
We disliked the view of a wall from our room and that they did not serve decaf coffee in the morning - only in the evening so we had to purchase it. The site also did not publish that parking is valet only or you’re on your own to park somewhere else.
The property is an historic building that is in much need of a significant infusion of capital improvements. It is in a great location but the rooms are old and dated, the coverlet on our bed was stained and unappealing. The baseboard is scuffed and worn, the windows dirty, and generally the appearance making the looked to be poorly maintained. This is too bad because the staff is extremely caring towards its guests.
Planters Inn is an older - quaint hotel. Our room was clean and the bathroom is updated. The restaurant, Peninsula Grill was good. The location to King Street and the market is perfect. We asked for a later check-out, which couldn’t be accommodated, but they were helpful by storing our luggage as our flight was 7 hours after check-out time. Would stay again.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
The hotel was really charming! It had a beautiful lobby area, and I loved the historical vibes. The staff were very polite and helpful. The bed was comfortable and the linens were nice. There were a couple of cons though: many of the lights in our room didn’t work well or needed some tweaking in order for them to work. The bathroom needed more light—not good for doing hair/make up. The shower head had great pressure but the tub drain was slow. Also our room was right off the housekeeping closet. It made for some extra noise, traffic and not so great views coming and going to our room. Most other rooms near us opened up on to a patio which would have been nicer. And maybe some thicker/sound suppressing doors? The location was great though and overall we enjoyed our stay.
