English Inn Charlottesville Review, very infuriating when housekeeping prematurely and unilaterally cut my stay short way before check out time. The housekeeper trespassed into my room despite not being checked out, ignoring the “Do Not Disturb” sign hung on the door, stole my hangers, and folded clothes that were hanging in the closet. You would think that a reasonable person would stop at any one of those signs. It is clear that hotel management condones those intrusions by throwing guests out of their hotel rooms and encouraging housekeeping to immediately turn over the rooms. The room had a funky mold odor and an unexplained dark stain on the dated rug. Room needs a refresh as curtains, drapes, and upholstered chair looked dingy. Urine smell by the 1st floor pool area door, breakfast bar has spoiled chocolate milk as the refrigerator was warm and not up to health code. Overall negative experience was not made better by the variety of breakfast food and decent location. They should dock the housekeeper’s pay for her folding my dry cleaned clothes. Do not recommend, do not stay, will not go back.

Room was immaculate and breakfast was excellent and ample. The general manager checked me in and was friendly and kind, switching my room to one on the first floor that would work better for taking my 2 small dogs outside. Very comfortable bed and pillows, plenty of towels, good water pressure - everything was fine. The desk clerk this morning was friendly and cheerful, which means a lot.

Bed was hard and springy, definitely felt cheap. Otherwise though we loved everything else about the place and discusses having to stay again sometime. Amazing tea selection for free afternoon tea 4PM-6PM. Amazing breakfast selection for the room price with meats, eggs, etc.

The hotel inside is beautiful, very charming. Staff very friendly. Rooms extremely clean, bed comfortable. The breakfast was very good. Coffee weak, but I like strong coffee. The hotel was very quiet. We stayed one night just to go to an appointment at UVA. Great location and price! We will stay again. Highly recommended.

The lobby, staff and room were all very nice; particularly the bathroom. All nice. The bed however was hard as a board. And not unlike a medieval torture device. No way I or my wife could rest on it. And there was no point in asking for another room as the hotel was full. So we checked out around 1:30 a.m. Nice looking place and very close to UVA. But when you're in your late 50s and have back, hip and knee problems, the English Inn might not be for you.

Beautiful lobby! Cozy fireplace and sitting area. Room was clean and warm. Reception greeted us warmly. Breakfast was more than the usual fare. A haven in the snowstorm! Lovely place. Would definitely stay there again.

We got caught in a snow storm and decided to stop just to be safe. This was a gem of a find. It’s like stepping into a European hotel. It was wonderful. Cozy seating areas are all around. Breakfast was on point and the guy working it was so friendly and welcomed every person to breakfast. We will come back.
