The hotel/health spa was well maintained and clean. The staff seemed stressed which reflected in the approach to guests. The unfortunately was right next to a fire door to the corridor to where our room was, it banged all night with other guests that where shouting and letting the fire door dang shut. So a good night's sleep didn't happen.

Nice venue, gym a little tired but I understand new equipment is on its way. Service in the restaurant and bar was poor. Multiple people waiting 15+mins to pay for their meal or order drinks. I gave up waiting and went to the bar. I was kept up till midnight by a group socialising under my room. Then building work began at about 1am in the room below mine. Impossible to sleep through so went to reception ask for it to stop or to be moved to a different room. This was not an option so I went and asked the workmen to stop. I will not be back.

We had a superior room which was spacious with a huge bathroom (separate bath and shower). Because of its position, overlooking an enclosed garden, and at the end of a corridor, it was very quiet. There is no lift so cases had to be carried upstairs. Several areas of hallway carpet are stained and worn. The bed was very large and comfortable but the room lacked some amenities, e.g. a fridge, adequate lighting over mirrors in the bedroom, coffee and tea but no biscuits. Dinner was served in a strange, small and noisy (because of other guests in a group of six who became louder as the evening wore on) restaurant. Our table was perfect for 2 except that the chairs were easy chairs, not dining chairs, so the table was too high to eat at comfortably. Moving would have put us next to the noisy table! Service was not good and I spoke to duty manager in the morning to explain what the service lacked, i.e. prompt attention, a menu to share (not one each!), no wine list without asking, no smiles or friendliness from staff, lack of knowledge about menu choice, etc. The food itself was hot and fine, albeit expensive). Breakfast was served in a different dining room which was better equipped in terms of tables, chairs at appropriate heights, etc. The pool facilities are a little in need of maintenance too; sections missing in jacuzzi surround, for example. Some lockers don't work as the locks are broken. Mine, once locked, wouldn't open again post swim so a member of staff helped.

Disappointing

Not the best unfortunately. First room we had the bed had a big sink hole,.unsure how tnay could go unnoticed when the bed was being made. Staff were great in getting us a replacement room. This did mean we had to wait around a little whilst they made it into a twin room. I am the type of person that likes my twin bed to be moved away from the other bed, I.like.space. I.dont think under the bed had ever been cleaned. However all the ither areas of the room weree spotless. Bedding was lovey & fresh. We went out for the evening upon return I felt the room.was a little cold but was unable to.turn the heating on. Decided to watch tv for an hour before bed but the TV had no signal. I did give feedback to the staff in the morning and was told they knew about the TV issues. She unfortunately didn’t seem bothered by anything just the genric sorry about that. For the price I paid I dont think it was value for money. Positives - rooms spacious and.the spa was good.

This hotel needs serious refurbishment. Hallway and breakfast room carpets stained and grubby. Mouldy sealant in shower cubicle. Paint on curtains. Loose door handles. Rubbish bin had coffee stains on outside. Holes in furniture fabric. Bed was comfortable and hotel relatively quiet

The exterior of the building is beautiful, but unfortunately, that's where the positives end. Tired, dirty, dated interior and rooms. Spa is nothing like the photos on the website - more like a public baths. The changing rooms have mold on the walls, with broken lockers and showers. Room was meant to be 'superior' but it was awful. Really hot and couldn't get to sleep, nothing superior about it. I would have been ok with it all if I'd not paid so much for a special treat. Even the staff were telling everyone how they were fed up and leaving the following week! It's such a shame as it could be so much more. It's convenient to get to Chester City Centre. Unfortunately, won't return here.

Dissapointing

Visited this hotel numerous times and always enjoy the stay. Unfortunately this time it was a let down. Firstly, no upgrade. As a gold member we usually receive an upgraded room. Although rooms weee available we did not receive. The hotel is starting to look tired and in need of investment. Our room was spacious however signs of damage caused by damp, with flaking paint. The decor was poor, no bedside table and the painting looked like it had been done by a child, with missed patches and their were lots of old cob webs. Last stay here for us I think.
