I booked through Expedia. Was a nightmare when I had to shorten my stay from three night to two. 40 minutes on the phone. When I arrived at the property they showed no reservation for me. The room as dirty…tons of mold in the bathroom. Party across the hall all night long. LONG wait to speak to anyone at the front desk. Lobby was beautiful but that’s all I liked about the space.

Loved the location for St. Paddy's Day events. Gave a lower overall rating because we were really disappointed with two things: 1. The bathroom--literal dribble of water for the second shower, and the water was cold. When you pay that much money, you expect a decent shower. 2. Breakfast this morning, had to ask for a refund on my breakfast sandwich. The english muffin was undercooked and hard as a rock.

This was a very very VERY poor experience. The room they put us in was connected to another and there was no barrier. When they had their lights on, it lit up our room. It was so bad...there were other major issues that I won't write about. As someone who rarely leaves a negative review, this was that bad.

Location location

The hotel is a historic building but that being said it is out dated. The paint on the ceiling was chipping in the bathroom and tub and fixtures in the bathroom were falling apart. The tub lining was bubbling so when you stood there in the shower you could feel it. I felt like I was standing in quicksand. The walls are very thin and rooms are small. Location is great! If you want to do some shopping, eating and drinking this is your spot, other than that it is not worth the hype.

Preservation of historical hotel is a plus. Providing that we are paying a high dollar a condition of bathroom is BIG no no!, broken and outdated shower assembly, broken floor tile, overall cleanless of the floor tile/ grouting. A lack of welcoming and fredliness at the front desk is noticeable. It is not first contact with the Palmer House hotel overall which has traditions of quality and hospitality.

Wonderful staff! Run-down, tired room…meh minus.

Palmer house has always had a mystique about it. I’m from a community that’s only an hour and a half from the loop. I’d never stayed at the Palmer house, but have heard of its grandeur for decades. I typically don’t have a reason to stay over in the city, however this occasion was special. So I chose the Palmer House. My overall impression was disappointment. The room itself was run down and poorly maintained. The furniture was covered in deep gouges and the plumbing fixtures were at least a decade past needing to be replaced! Without exaggeration, I’ve stayed at Holiday Inns that were less run-down. In contrast, the staff was fantastic!
