We never stayed at Sudima Christchurch as there was a mix up with dates. Maria the hotel Manager did her best to sort it out due to Expedia sending an automated reply to me. I am still waiting to hear from Expedia as I then had to book another hotel at my cost. If I don't hear soon from Expedia, I will NOT BE USING HOTELS.COM for furture bookings

We had previously stayed at this hotel so returning was an easy decision to make. It’s convenient for the airport and the return of the camper van we had hired. Excellent service at the hotel and free and convenient shuttle service back to the airport when required.

The hotel looks like it has been split into two halves. One half being a 4 star hotel. The other half being a 2 star motel at best. We were put in one of the latter rooms. Tired, old decor. Toilet seat which didn’t match the base. Broken toilet roll holder. Grubby bathmat, old fashioned shower curtain which stuck to everything it came into contact with. Tired, dirty shower head with water pressure that came and went, along with the temperature. Dirty sink. Bald, worn towels. And to top it off, one of those minuscule, 70’s corded hairdryers, attached to the wall. Old TV with zero smart features. A desk with no power sockets anywhere nearby. Small double bed. Essentially a sub standard, below par experience which was nothing like what was advertised online. They use the recently refurbished rooms to advertise the hotel in its entirety. Which, quite frankly, is incredibly misleading. You don’t get what you see on the tin. And considering it’s a hotel that must attract a considerable amount of international visitors, it’s bordering on embarrassing. I dread to think what business visitors must make of it all. The final straw was the over the top service from the reception staff. If you’re going to put people in rooms of such low quality, do what they do in the UK with Premier Inns. Seperate the two buildings, charge motel rates for the cheap seats and leave the impressive service for the rich kids. Dreadful experience. Wouldn’t repeat.

The hotel is walkable from the airport but it is still some distance. Fortunately they provide a shuttle service that can be pre arranged with the hotel to pick you up. It is also possible to arrange for the shuttle to drop you off at nearby locations.
