The fortress Duomo, which is what Taormina's main cathedral is considered, was built around the year 1400 on the ruins of a small mediaeval church.

ISOLA BELLA is a small island near Taormina, Sicily, southern Italy. Also known as The Pearl of the Ionian Sea, it is located within a small bay on the Ionian Sea; it was a private property owned by Florence Trevelyan until 1990, when it was bought by the Region of Sicily, being turned into a nature reserve, administrated by the Italian branch of the World Wide Fund for Nature. There is a narrow path that often connects the island to the mainland beach. The island has a small and rather rocky beach which is a popular destination for sunbathers.

Clean , and beautiful very close to corso Umberto and stores!! Excellent breakfast and the personal very nice people!! Parking but 30 euros by night at the hotel.

Good size room and we had an amazing view off our balcony. Shower stall is very small and uncomfortable. The breakfast spread is incredible, but I was disappointed that the hotel bar/restaurant had a very limited menu. There were about 10 items listed but they only had 4-5 of them available.
