Unfortunately, the St George didn't quite meet my average expectations for hotels. Some of that is due to it being such an historical property, one that has not been continually updated for some conveniences. Cons The window allowed rainwater in the bottom (This is not an issue that I reported as it seemed an ongoing matter and that part of the blame for the inconvenience rests with me). A request for towels at the front desk was never fulfilled or followed-up on (I was using towels to handle the rain water leak).There was no mini-fridge, which was a bummer (that I maybe could have read about prior to booking). One day lacked any cold water from morning until afternoon (can't speak to the frequency of this issue but they did send someone up quickly after my call to the desk). The room was rather musty, and Dublin's frequent rain sometimes just doesn't allow the room to be properly aired out. The wifi was very unreliable. Pros The staff were very nice. It felt perfectly secure. The location is excellent, close enough to walk but far enough that you're not overwhelmed by people on the street or noise.

We had a room in the back of the hotel and it was relatively quiet (birds and a little noise from next door). Lights shone in window which required closing curtains which thus cut off ventilation. Fan was provided. Decor a little cheesy. Quite adequate. Friendly staff 24 hrs.

Good location, old plumbing, minimal amenities

Location is great and staff were lovely. It is very pretty if a bit tatty in places. We paid a premium for one of our nights which probably made the overall cost seem very high for such basic accommodation. There were several issues with the plumbing during our stay which were disruptive although staff did their best to get things sorted appropriately. Amenities are minimal just hand soap and body wash are provided in the rooms and it's not the best quality. No luggage rack/table, not really enough surfaces in the rooms and a general lack of thought put into some spaces. The lift was ancient and shuddering, there are still steps between lift and rooms on most floors, some very narrow. The rooms were clean but showing signs of age and wear in places. Our first room (before the major plumbing issue) was a literal double in that the bed was a tiny double even though there was room for a queen. Very central location, although it is near the party area of the city which can be a bit noisy. Room at the back of the property are better for quiet. The staff were great and tried very hard to fix things if they could. It just felt like not quite enough for the price range.

Quiet location & comfortable hotel.

This was my second stay at this hotel. It's perfectly located for catching the airport coach in the morning. And although close to some great local pubs & restaurants, plus the Gate Theatre, it is a very quiet, peaceful hotel. No disturbance at all, on either stay. A bedroom window I could open, a really comfortable bed, a fantastic shower (very important!!) & proper size and generous amount of fluffy white towels.

Very basic accomodations. I stayed in room 209 and it was nothing like the upscale pics on the website. Clean, but smelled of mold. Bed was too soft, if I got to close to the edge it would nearly collapse and send me sliding off (195 lbs male). Bathroom sink has individual faucets for hot and cold, so you could have super hot on the left faucet and cold on the right, nothing in-between. Not bad for a night or two, or if you're barely spending any time in your room. Just don't expect to be impressed.
