We loved our stay at the Stater! What’s not to like about history, old-time tradition and beautiful architecture? Plus, it’s within walking distance from everything you’d want to do downtown. We’ll definitely be back!
Amazing historical hotel lots of interesting things to see in and out of the hotel the bar area was great. A lot of things to do within walking distance

Requests for high floor room were not met and blamed booking through Expedia for not being able to be moved somewhere else. Ground floor room windows facing the street could not be securely locked. They hosted a huge music event taking over the property without informing guests in advance. While check in and check out clerk was friendly, when we expressed concerns about music in the guest corridor in the evening, the staff said there is nothing they could do and was unwilling to help. Would have higher rating had the circumstances been different. Expedia guests seem to be put to the worst location in the building.
The décor of the property was great was disappointed that the spa was closed when we arrived after calling in advance to make sure it would be open to use the hot tub while we were there.
We ate dinner in the Diamond Belle. Loved it. There was a guitar player. unfortunately, I didn't get his name. His playing was wonderful. My sister and I really enjoyed it. Perfect music for an enjoyable dinner. Not crazy loud and wonderful choices. He also took many requests. The food was also very good. Thank you for a GREAT stay. We will be back, and we will recommend you to everyone we know heading to Durango. Sincerely, Joan Utter

Great service. Clean rooms and the location is perfect!!
This is an old-west style hotel that adds a lot of character. In addition, it is located in the heart of downtown Durango, so much of the most popular areas to shop, dine, or photograph is very walkable.

I enjoyed my two nights at this historical hotel. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The common areas of the hotel were well kept. I found the room clean with adequate space for three. However, there’s little countertop space for personal items in the room assigned. The most disappointing was the climate control system in the room. With the thermostat set to 60f, the room would not cool below 75f. That made for two warm nights.
Historic is correct not fancy. location, location, location! Parking included. 3 restaurants/bars on site. Walkable to everything on and around Main st.
incredible old historic hotel. Very interesting displays. Room was small, shower very small. Floor uneven but what do you expect. Service outstanding. Diamond Belle saloon fun but does get crowded. Be aware there are steps to get into the hotel but the front desk will help with luggage.
