My wife took I’ll on our first night. Night clerk was very effective in getting ambulance in a hurry. Staff was very concerned for us. Had to cancel part of reservation as a result. Processed quickly. Friendly environment.

Stayed in the windowless room - the sheets had a suspension red coloured mark on them, yellow stains on the floor around the toilet (which I wouldn’t normally care about). But the constant banging of doors that felt like they were right next to our heads as we “slept” was too much.

DO NOT BOOK

Everything was so terrible we are so disappointed, the hotel is in very bad shape, old, dirty the crew are not well trained, they are so rude and unfriendly, the food service was so basic and poor, it was the WORST experience that we have ever had in our entire life, so so BAD, DO NOT BOOK at this hotel, not even for free I will stay again over there. No windows (I am claustrophobic) clogged sink, no room service unless you stay more that 7 days (I was told that), broken pieces in the room, dirty hallways, manager never available to speak with us. We have to grab towels from the front desk. Terrible everything

I liked that this hotel was not in the heart of the city so it was quieter (as well as more affordable). It also was easy to get rides from and back to the hotel.

Ok but not a lot for your money

Reception was ok but when i went back to query something the girl was more interested in her screen than my query. The hotel is run by young people none of which are particularly interested in their job. The hotel is large and in its day was probably smart but now is tired, the bed was comfortable but the bathroom had dirty or missing grout, a shower that was very old and only minimal shower force, a broken toilet roll holder and a hole in the door. There was no shower gel so had to use shampoo to shower with, no floor rug so used one of the hand towels to prevent slipping. There was no phone in the room so had to go down 4 floors to speak to reception The hotel is a walkable distance to the city, the modern art museums and has easy access to the Leith river walk which helped bring the score up but for £300 for 2 nights I expected a higher standard overall
Shower was old and grouting missing or dirty
Door of bathroom scrapes on vinyl floor and had been broken.

Room was big and it was fine. Breakfast was fine, it’s a busy hotel and is walkable to attractions, and parking was easy, during this time.

I booked a room with three beds for me, my son and my brother in law. When I checked in, they said I had a room with three beds but when I got to the room, it only had two beds. As we had had a busy day and were about to go out for the evening we just rested in the room and I decided to tell the front desk about the problem on my way out so that they could remedy it while we were out. When I got to the front desk, they asked how long we had been in the room, and I said about an hour and they said well if you don’t tell us in the first five minutes you are stuck with the room. I was so incredulous at this attitude that all I could say was “you’ve got to be kidding” but they stuck to their guns. No apology, no attempt to make the problem go away, just a brick wall of attitude. I suppose running a hotel in Edinburgh makes it too difficult to actually give your customers the hospitality and service they are paying for. I also noticed a sign that said swearing at or otherwise abusing employees will not be tolerated. I have never seen such a sign in a hotel. I guess this hotel must need that sign because if that’s the way they treat their guests, they must have frequent episodes of such abuse. I was half expecting Basil Faulty to come out of the office. Ridiculous hotel.

Good failure for money. The breakfast in the morning was affordable and good value. All in all we would probably stay there again.
