The location is great, close to royal mile but away from a lot of foot traffic so the rooms were quiet. Check in and checkout was smooth. The wifi didn't work at all for 2 out of 3 days of my trip, and the room I had didn't have good mobile signal either, so I had no internet at all.
The room smelled musty but was mostly comfortable. I was given no instructions at all during check-in and discovered on my own that they have free coffee and tea on the ground floor for everyone. I appreciate the sustainability effort of not washing the towels every single day, but it would have been useful to have two bath towels in the bedroom instead of just the one.
Overall was an ok stay!
The room was a little bit larger than a math box, not roomy to be comfortable. The room service staff provided only one towel for two of us. The toilet paper ran out. There was no paper tissue (Cleenex type) provided. The room was very dusty, so the toilet paper was used to clean up the area we used to leave personal items. The room carpet did not show it was vacuumed properly. BAD!
The rooms are quite compact, well designed, but be aware of size. We did not think of the dimensions ahead, and were not expecting to have to climb over each other to get in or out of bed.
Nice hotel close to the train station. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was good. Be sure to schedule in advance if you want an early check in, I mistakenly thought you could just pay on the day to check in early and that wasn’t the case. But they do let you leave your luggage. The gin distillery is right across the street as well as one of the Islander UK workshops. I partook in both! And there’s a little chocolate shop around the corner. The room is small but cozy and I had a nice little view. The staff was friendly and checking out was just dropping your key card in a box!
