Can’t beat the location. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The bar/restaurant on floor 1 was nice and had a great vibe. Room was small and was given a queen bed instead of a king, but the view of the city and Calton Hill made up for it.

Wonderful stay in a wonderful city

I recently stayed at Motel One on Princes Street for our anniversary, and I couldn’t have been more impressed. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make our stay special. They greeted us with warmth and genuine hospitality, making us feel like valued guests from start to finish. To our delight, we were surprised with a complimentary room upgrade – a wonderful gesture that truly made our anniversary even more memorable. The room was not only stylish and comfortable but also had incredible views of the city, which was a perfect way to start each day. The location is ideal, right in the heart of Edinburgh, with easy access to shopping, restaurants, and the iconic sights of the city. The whole atmosphere of the hotel was relaxed, modern, and welcoming, making it the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring. Thank you to the entire team for your exceptional service and for making our stay unforgettable. We can’t wait to return!

Loved the location, right across from the Waverly Train station and lots of pubs and restaurants writing walking distance. The hotel was amazing, with a bar and coffee available, pretty much all day, which was amazing when you come in cold. Lol The morning breakfast was great, the staff is so lovely, they are the best!!! I should warn, it is a small basic room and the area outside can be noisy, there are a lot of pubs down the alley and a nightclub. If you are on that side of the hotel, you will hear the traffic AND all the bottles being collected LOL that is very loud!! But, of you don't mind that, you are golden!

Motel One is in an excellent location with everything close by. We walked everywhere. The front of house staff were friendly and helpful when there was a misunderstanding about cleaning our room. They normally have light snacks like toasted sandwiches available at night but not when we asked. Maybe short staffed? The rooms have tea and coffee which was great and you can book in for breakfast if it’s not part of your package. It’s a standard hotel room but expensive because of its location. Would stay again for location.

The hotel was fine. Location was great. Staff was kind and helpful. The room was okay, very basic, but met what we needed. The toilet seemed to have issues and sometimes wouldn’t flush. As a female traveler I felt like the hotel did not have and safety options built in. I didn’t need a key to enter the hotel or elevator. I could walk in enter the hotel and elevator and go to any floor without my key. If I were to return I might not stay here due to the lack of safety.

Perfect Stay for Edinburgh!

This was a great weekend stay for me, just visiting Edinburgh for first time - centrally located to all the sights and restaurants. Staff was amazingly friendly and helpful!

Great gem in great location - small niggles.

Great little hotel in brilliant central location with lovely views over Princes Street and the Balmoral Hotel (if in the bar area). Nice modern facilities and toiletries but our room was too hot ( window onto inside “courtyard” had to stay open all nice as air con wasn’t doing anything. Also other problem was the pull down tea/coffee shelf only opened behind the bathroom door so that was a pain to open/close it and call to person on other side of door that you needed to come out of bathroom. Otherwise a great place for reasonable price and fantastic location!!
