We had very good customer service and experience until the last hour of our visit. At checkout, called front desk for help with luggage, promised to send someone ‘right up’. 15 min later called again because they never came right up. Bell desk proceeded to tell us should have left our stuff in room and just come down. As if we would know that after speaking with front desk. Finally bellhop brings our stuff down on the luggage cart, loses control, and dumped all our stuff on the wet filthy Edinburgh sidewalk. Brand new coats, my wife’s toiletries rolling across the street. Of course, No accountability, immediately blamed it on ‘colleagues’ for loading it ‘incorrectly’. picked everything up, got car loaded. I decided to tip him anyways because I worked service once upon a time and handed him a five. Instead of saying ‘thank you’, he said ‘yeah’. Needless to say, his attitude and ungratefulness was unexpected after dumping our possessions into the middle of the sidewalk. My wife went back in to see if they could find a glove the same bell desk lost when they brought our items in for check-in. Same bellhop was completely flippant - “it’s Edinburgh, we don’t have your glove, anyone could have picked it up”. very beautiful hotel, fitness / spa very nice, breakfast is excellent, customer service we received from everyone else was top notch. Will give them benefit of doubt, & probably come again, but might not ask for any more ‘help’ from bell desk.

Room was cold all day. Warm at night when going out. No outlook whatsoever as window covered up. Had to stand on chair to see outside which was a giant crane. Supposed to be a special treat. Very disappointed

Overall we had an excellent stay at The Caledonian. The staff were outstanding, the food was delicious, the room was super clean and spacious and the facilities were great (the swimming pool and steam/sauna). Our room was ready late but we were afforded some financial compensation which was very thoughtful. The only very minor issues were the room (particularly the bathroom) was not particularly hot due to the original single glazed windows. Also, my wife would have preferred a warmer duvet, however I was happy with the provided one. Also, there was no meat sausage for breakfast on our first day but there were some on the second day. However, we would absolutely highly recommend The Caledonian hotel and we would definitely stay again. It was our anniversary and we were treated very well.

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and reserved a premium king room, expecting a comfortable and relaxing stay. Unfortunately, my room was located right next to the fire exit and the housekeeping room. Every morning from around 7am, it became extremely noisy as the staff started cleaning and moving equipment, making it impossible to rest properly. I reached out to reception and explained that the noise was very disturbing, requesting a room change. The lady at reception, whose name I believe was Rianne, told me the hotel was full and that she couldn’t change the room at the time. I kindly asked if they could move us on another day instead, and she said she would make a note about it. When I checked out, I found out that no note had been made and nothing was done to resolve the issue. No apology or compensation was offered, and we left the hotel quite disappointed. Overall, I do not recommend this hotel. Rooms should never be placed directly next to housekeeping areas, or at the very least, they should be offered at a lower rate. I expected much more from this hotel, especially after booking a premium room, and unfortunately, the experience fell far below expectations.

I don’t give five stars lightly but this place deserves it! Service, atmosphere and food were amazing. The only challenge was no parking. They do offer a reduced rate for parking a block away at the TCP lot. We parked for the better of two days straight and, after the discount, paid £18.

We booked a quiet room through Expedia. I also messaged the hotel through Hilton for a quiet room. Upon check in, got a very loud room on the first floor with nats as a problem. Did not sleep well due to traffic noise and nats swimming around our wine and bathroom.Complained the next day and the hotel did a solid by changing our room to an inner courtyard with no traffic noise and less nays. Terrific customer service!
