They cast themselves as a luxury property, but they are very self service and tack on extra charges for everything. There was no help with luggage. They did not clean our room (they claimed this is because they are "eco-friendly," but they could still have made the beds and taken out the trash they give you dozens of little plastic bottles of shampoo etc which are anything but eco-friendly). They did not even provide a free cup of coffee in the morning. It was fine, but significantly overpriced for the level of service we got.
Lovely hotel in a great setting. Less than 20 minutes from Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon. Very friendly staff at check in and at the bar. The restaurant was very nice for both dinner and breakfast - great selection at breakfast including chocolate cake! A little expensive, but no more than Iceland in general.
Nice room with twin beds as requested - at the end of a long corridor though so after dinner we were too tired to head to the hot tub and didn't really fancy walking that distance in a dressing gown and slippers (don't let that put you off though...the hot tub/sauna area did look lovely when we went to look in the morning before leaving).
Easy check-in and easy check-out. Big car park outside.
I would definitely stay here again and recommend it.
Good location for those who need to join blue caves or glacier tours and prefer short travel time. Enjoyed the breakfast with a variety of food selections, sauna and hot tub. And the views from the Ocean room are gorgeous which able to see sunrise and northern lights. Although there was a slight odor due to the dryness of the toilet exhaust pipe, overall it was a comfortable stay.
Loved this hotel, worth the money for sure. The view from breakfast and the restaurant is stunning. The food is fabulous - highly recommend the salmon for dinner. The staff were lovely! Cocktails took a minute to arrive but no worries. Glacier nearby was great. We saw the northern lights too. The spa/hot tub area is lovely!
This hotel was a great choice for our second portion of our trip to Iceland! Nice location to travel to some of the hot spots to see in Iceland. Staff was friendly and super helpful. Restaurant was delicious and convenient. Views were spectacular. Rooms were so different and very comfortable. Would definitely recommend.
Beautiful hotel with a very convenient location. Restaurant on site with amazing, affordable food. Sauna, gym, and outdoor hot tubs available. Bar lounge also available. Northern lights call also available.
The Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon is a hotel almost in the middle of nowhere. As we were approaching the hotel area...well...we were not expecting much. However, this is a top notch hotel. The staff were very friendly and the room was nice. The hot tubs were great and they provided robes without charge (nice!). The restaurant, which is high quality, was expensive. The food was excellent and service excellent. Was not expecting such high quality in the middle of nowhere Iceland!!
it would have been AMAZING, except i slipped on the wet floor in the towel room near the sauna/hot tub. It was their crappy slippers and the fact that they SHOULD have the ENTIRE floor covered with slip proof mats,. not JUST by the entrance. When warning others, i was told "my friend slipped too last night" for the amount they are charging, they should have mats over the entire area!!!
We stayed for two nights at this property, and it was undoubtedly the best of the three we’ve stayed in during our ten-day trip. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and had beautiful scenic views. The heated bathroom floors were a pleasant touch. The meals for dinner and breakfast were excellent. The staff were friendly and attentive. The highlight of our stay was the wake-up call service that alerted us to the Northern Lights. The atmosphere was relaxed yet elevated. I highly recommend this property!
