Staff very uptight and not accommodating. Property is great in the middle of no where. But expensive. Great views from the rooms. Rooms and amenities are great. Location wise just off the main highway. Food is expensive as hell, but good choices and tasted very good. Great quality
Coming with high prices. If you like fine dining with great food, this is the place to stay and eat. Enjoy.
The best hotel in Iceland!!!My family of four enjoyed this hotel and its amenities very much. This was an excellent place to stay after an eight hour hike on a glacier. It’s very close to the glaciers, glacier lagoon, and diamond beach. The rooms for spacious, the beds were very comfortable with nice linens, a well appointed bathroom, etc. The spa area was very relaxing and spotless. The free breakfast buffet the next morning was by far the best we’ve had while in the country. It’s a little pricy, BUT everything is in Iceland. After staying there, it’s worth every penny.
The hotel overall was nice...though the staff was just so terribly insulting, deceptive and rude that I couldn't rate this hotel positively. At breakfast I asked a waiter for aluminum foil and showed him my bread from home (one would conclude I need to wrap a sandwich). His response "let me ask the chef". He came back with the foil and I made my sandwich. I took an avocado out of my bag, used smoked salmon from the buffet and then wrapped it up - at which point says to me "Should I charge that to your room?" Excuse me? He pointed to a tiny little card on the table that listed if you take food you are charged a fee. Hmm, so you 'went to ask the chef' and rather than telling me about this charge you waited until I was done making the sandwich to tell me. The card on the table is tiny. As I'm nearing 40 and was the youngest in the room - there is zero chance anyone in this room can see this small card on the table. I felt tricked and manipulated. We had some words as I said he should have told me when he brought the foil - he responded "so give me back the salmon" - he wanted me to take apart my sandwich and give him back salmon with my spread avocado all over it - to then what?! Put it back in the buffet?!??!
Words to this hotel - 1. If you want to maintain this rule, that is fine - put up a sign, and with large words that people can see
2. Train your employees to not be jerks and trick the guests
3. Maybe just don't hire jerks so you skip the above training

The food was amazing. They must have a great chef. The room was warm - would have liked to be able to cook it down but only one small window. The hot tubs were fun especially in the 40 m/hr winds one night!
Liked the dining experience and food at dinner, drinks at happy hour.
Didn’t like the wait til 3:20pm for our room to be ready to check-in. Didn’t like the fitted bedsheet in the larger bed having bumpy pilling on it, some of the pilling bumps were dark. Didn’t like that we didn’t find a thermostat to regulate temperature in the room. Didn’t like the noise from a group of people loudly talking in the hallway outside our room for hours, with kids running back and forth in the hall. Finally they left the hall at 11:30pm and we could get to sleep.
Hotel was nice but overpriced even by Iceland standards. No air conditioning in the room, meals were not worth the price. Better off picking up food elsewhere.
Outstandingly beautiful hotel. Spacious room and comfortable bed. We had a view of a waterfall from our room. Bathroom was incredibly nice. Warmed floors. Waterfall shower head and first hotel that actually had conditioner. We had a triple room, and they made a full double bed up for our daughter. Blackout shades actually worked very well. We used and enjoyed the hot tub. We had dinner and breakfast in the hotel and both were quite good. Staff was friendly.
Nice hotel in the middle of nowhere. Service was very good and the food was delicious. Both the room rate and the food were expensive, but that’s what you get in the middle of summer in Iceland. Restaurant took a little too long to bring us our food but the meal was great. You pretty much have to eat at the hotel since there are no other options. Overall nice place.
Pricey for the room. I guess that's from a lack of competition. Higher end pricing for a mediocre room. The lobby and the restaurant were the best thing about the hotel. I expected more of a luxury room for nearly $500! All the staff were very nice.
