You Get What You Pay For – But They Could Try Harder At only $47 a night, expectations weren’t high, but they could at least try a little harder. The room looked dirty, light bulbs were missing, and the TV didn’t work—there weren’t even batteries in the remote. The AC unit was broken, making it uncomfortable to stay in. The building didn’t feel secure, and people were roaming the halls all night, making it hard to get any sleep. Even for a budget stay, basic maintenance and cleanliness should be a priority. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The fire alarm was disconnected. The tub had built up hard water deposits in the drain and no drain plug. The cover for the bathroom fan/light was sitting on top of the towel holder and filthy dirty. The floor had dirt and grease on it. The heater was noisy, and the bed had a sheet and a bedspread that was just as thin as the sheet as it's only covers. The man checking us in was not friendly and didn't seem to know much. The hallway carpets and stairs needed a good vaccuming.

Arrived at the hotel and there was no one at the front desk. There were two other parties in front of me waiting to check in. One of them use the phone provided to call to reach an employee, but it just rang at the front desk so that was useless. It was at least 20 minutes after I arrived before someone came to the desk. The bathroom door in our room was broke and didn’t close. The base of the bed was dented and broke and felt like we were going to fall on the floor. We booked this hotel because it had fairly good reviews saying the staff was very friendly and didn’t charge for pets. I think they don’t charge for pets because then they would have to talk to you and ask if you had pets. The man at the desk said maybe 20 words between all three of us checking in. In the morning they kept bugging us asking us when we were going to leave.

The shower faucet leaked all night anc there was duct tape on light in living room sink. Air conditioner was broken and wouldn’t turn on at all. Lobby check in was talking to a lady on the phone. Saw me after a few minutes of being in the room with door closed behind the counter. He than kept shooing me away saying in an almost indistinguishable tone, “no no” I said I have a room, he than said “no” again. Than I said “yes I do” and he finally looked me up on the computer and said have a nice night. All while the lady was on the phone. Won’t be coming back again.

It appears that the owners, man and wife are the rare exceptions. They were gracious, and made sure that we came first. Refreshing to be sure. I’m glad I got to meet them and I hope that they are there each time I roll through.

Rooms were borderline health issues. Beds made up with dirty sheets. Nothing was wiped down. Roaches, homeless people layed up in the halls. Broken lamps, no bulbs. Safety doors propped open 24 hours a day.
