A lovely short stay at Enotel Magnolia. Our room was upgraded which was a nice surprise. The room was very spacious and comfortable and patio doors opened onto the garden and pool. The pool was lovely. There was a great selection of food for breakfast and the staff very helpful with our gluten free needs. The hotel is situated near a variety of restaurants and bars so a good location.

Check-in was very easy and it was a 20 minute ride from the airport. The breakfast buffet had all kinds of food available and I never went hungry. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the hotel is in a pretty good location. There are dining options within a ten minute walk and a small grocery store (SPAR) that is also a ten minute walk in case you forgot something.

A really nice hotel situated just outside Funchal's city center, which you can access by leisurely walking into town for 20 to 30 minutes. The room was so spacious and comfortable to stay in. The TV has modern features letting me cast my phone to watch what I wanted to. The room also came with robes and pool towels that could be replaced. The hotel itself has some great amenities like a pool and spa area which was so needed after a day of hiking. Breakfast was super solid. I am taking one star off for the following reasons. 1) Parking is extremely limited on property. I've heard of some guests having to park off property. Luckily I did not encounter this issue as I got back to the hotel by 3pm each day and would walk into town for dinner. 2) my rooms thermostat was very weird like it was on a schedule (like one I have at home). Despite setting the temp to around 22 to 23, it would reset to 24 to 25 degrees at night and i would wake up feeling hot and have to turn down the temp. I tried to address this twice with the front desk who seemingly took notes on this and tried to relay this to their staff, this issue was never fully addressed with me nor resolved. 3) not a fault of the hotel, but something to be mindful of is that some cars like to zoom past in the middle of the night making a lot of noise. I happened to be facing south and would hear cars speed down the main road in mid night. If you are sensitive to noise, make sure you have some good earplugs.

Very clean and nice hotel. The area is nice and quiet but not the closest to the main town area. Parking can be tricky sometimes but we managed. Overall, we had a nice experience.

Nice hotel in Funchal

This is my second stay in this hotel. Nice hotel, not to far to walk to central Funchal. Nice, clean rooms. Good breakfast, nice pool and & spa area. Will stay again!

Birthday getaway

I had a great stay at Enotel Magnolia! The bed was extremely comfortable — every night’s sleep was restful. I also liked that the bins were separated for recycling, which made being eco-friendly easy. The spa facilities were excellent, especially the indoor pool, steam room, and sauna, which was a bit tucked away but perfect for unwinding. Staff throughout the hotel were lovely and very helpful. Breakfast was another highlight, with a wide, healthy variety including plenty of fruits, gluten-free, and lactose-free options, which was great to see included. The only downside to my stay was how my birthday was handled. I had informed the hotel in advance, but there was no acknowledgment or even a simple "happy birthday," which was disappointing. Small gestures make a big difference in hospitality, especially on special occasions. I had seen other reviews mentioning thoughtful birthday surprises at this hotel, so it felt even more noticeable that nothing was done in my case, which sadly took away from the excitement of the day. Overall, a very good stay, but the missed birthday gesture did leave a sour note.

Awesome!! But a few minor improvements needed

I enjoyed my time very much here. I loved that there was parking but depending on the time day of you came back it was often full (only fits about 17 cars), and you had to get creative with parking elsewhere (5 creative spots). If all the creative spots were gone then you would have to park ten minutes away, which luckily didn’t happen to us in early April 2025. I would imagine during high season parking would be very difficult, so don’t stay out too late with your car!! The location was not too far off the highway and offered day tours and hiking tours at reasonable prices on various days of the week. Their indoor pool is NOT INDOOR. It is only covered and is open to the elements, I actually think the indoor pool is colder than the outdoor pool because it is not warmed up by the sun. We used the steam room and dry sauna which was nice but they close early at 7pm which should be open later as people could use it after a long day of hiking! It was relaxing the one time we used it, the second time we just sat in the residual heat. Breakfast buffet is great and has many options, the perfect fuel for exploring the island!! One thing I would say I found annoying is that I often went to the front desk to ask questions and half the time no one would even be there and there is no bell to ring so I would say the service staff were not super helpful at this hotel.

Great hotel - faultless

Honestly, I thought this hotel was great. I enjoyed my room: clean, with a great shower and it had the benefit of a fridge and a balcony with sea-view. The daily room service was also appreciated. The hotel's team members were friendly and efficient. It had a decent in-house restaurant, but there was also the option of walking for no longer than 10 minutes to get to other restaurants. Good sized pool(s) with plenty of seating.
