Second visit in a Terrace Plunge Pool suite. Beautiful beach and well kept grounds. Restaurants nice and clean. We ordered room service everyday and the food was not as good as our first visit, but service was great and usually a 45 minute minimum wait. Mini fridge on first day was lacking snack wise, but after requesting a restock and providing preferences there were no issues. Rooms could use a simple refresh with new curtains, artwork, and outdoor rugs. Staff was friendly and overall great service.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Excellence Playa Mujeres in early June 2025. We had a great time. The rooms and resort were very clean and staff was helpful and friendly. The Grill had really good steaks and we enjoyed the nightly entertainment.
They made a candle out of towels for my birthday!

Everything was beautiful. The food was good, especially considering being all-inclusive (particularly spice & basmati). The staff is the main selling point (shout out the pool bartenders, they kept us laughing). Never a long wait for a drink. We had a private romantic dinner reservation for our anniversary that was included as well as other perks. We truly loved our time. All that and we are not even part of the Excellence Club.

One complaint was the TV, it needs to be updated. Only a few American channels which I understand. It would have been nice to be able to watch Netflix or something. Checking in was no problem. We just felt the communication about the package we had could have been explained better. Need more chairs by the pool. If you don’t get down very early at least 8am, you will be disappointed trying to get a spot by the pool. The beach is the same. Definitely need more seating. I think being a 5 star resort you shouldn’t have to worry about trying to find a spot to relax. Staff was very friendly and very helpful with anything we needed.

We stayed at Excellence Playa Mujeres six years ago and had such a magical experience that we decided to return this year for our anniversary. Sadly, this trip was a major letdown. When we arrived, we let both the front desk and our bellman know it was our anniversary. He even said he would make a note of it—but throughout our stay, there were no acknowledgments or special touches at all. Last time, we were greeted with champagne, towel decorations, and sweet surprises in our room. This time, it felt like just another stay—nothing personalized or celebratory, which was especially disappointing since this trip had sentimental meaning for us. The beach situation was also a big change. What used to be a spacious, welcoming beachfront with a buffet is now mostly reserved for Excellence Club members. As regular guests, we were left with a very small section, often overcrowded. If you don’t claim a seat by 6–6:30 a.m., you’re likely out of luck until late in the afternoon. That’s not the relaxing vibe we expected. While the resort is still beautiful, the beach experience has shifted. It feels more exclusive than inclusive now, and unless you pay for the club upgrade, you miss out on many comforts that used to be standard. Unfortunately, this stay didn’t live up to the magic we remembered.
