I had a terrible experience at th Hilton Garden Inn in Cambridge.
It started when I checked in. The front desk person was very rude and and smelled of alcohol. I made it to my room and unpacked. I came back down to grab a little bit of dinner and the bartender was very nice and quite chatty which I am OK with. Got back to my room and found hairs in the bathroom but looked past it and went to bed on a mattress that quite clearly had seen a better day and pillows that were absolutely terrible. I cam back after work the next night with a colleague and we decided to stay in for dinner. That was a huge mistake. I first had an Old Fashioned or at least the bartenders version. It was absolutely terrible. He had no orange so he put lemon in the drink. You don't do that to an old fashioned. I complained and he just said he would give me a discount. My mistake, I should have refused it. My work colleague cam down with his wife and we ordered the appetizer tray which was ok. Not great but OK. We all ordered the strip loin dinner but we re told after 1/2 hr that there was none left so they offered the rib eye for the same price. WQe all greed and waited another 1/2 hr for the food to come out. I should mention that we ordered medium, medium and medium rare for how we wanted to have the steak. When they finally came out they were extra well done. Absolutely like show leather. When we complained the waiter said that thats how they come.
