TLDR; keypad code did not work, host unresponsive, no place to stay after midnightI received a text from the host with a door code on the morning of our reservation. I responded that we would be arriving late in the evening.We arrived around 10:30PM and entered the code; keypad light flashed red and did not unlock. I called/messaged the host - no response. I spent an hour on the phone with Vrbo support for them to inform me that we would need to wait another hour to "give the host an opportunity to respond." We were told to find a "restaurant or somewhere" to wait in until 12:30AM (most businesses within 10 miles close before 10PM). It was unclear if we would be provided a place to stay that night so we sought out another solution and thankfully had the means to do so.Vrbo contacted me after 12:30AM to begin the process of finding a new rental and providing reimbursement credit (NOT a refund). I spoke with multiple agents in order to receive a refund rather than reimbursement. Thankfully a full refund was provided.I received a message from the host after 2AM providing the same code previously sent and saying that it was entered incorrectly. (We had attempted the code multiple times and recorded video documenting that it would not unlock the door.) Later that day, the host sent another barely-apologetic text offering a discount for a future stay.All in all, this booking left us without a place to sleep (or use the bathroom) past 1AM; would not recommend.
