Its a nice old house with potential - problem was the breakfast. They need to clean tables, have clean glasses and cups for tea and coffees. Staff need to be quicker and more attentive, cooked breakfast was poor - over done bacon and old mushrooms. Need to raise their game.
No hot water, kettle was broken, service on arrival very poor and miserable looking receptionists.
generally not a pleasant stay

Room was nice and spacious. A few issues sockets did not work for kettle had to stand kettle on floor to reach working socket. Stains down back of desk. Various cobwebs
Mould on shower curtain. Breakfast was nice but cold and dining room was freezing. Bar area was also very cold. Drinks were expensive. No hot water in room Sunday morning. Spring sticking out of mattress

Not great, but I would stay again
Lovely large room and comfortable bed with nice bedding. The cost was less than other hotels in the area.
However I don’t think the room had been fully prepared - there was no loo roll, the lights in the corridor outside were turned off (making it difficult to get into the room!) and there was no milk with the tea & coffee tray.
Breakfast was poor so I didn’t have any…
However I would stay again due to great location and reasonable cost.
The room was spacious, clean and comfortable.
The breakfast was very basic but ok.
Would have been better if proper coffee was available, there was only instant coffee at breakfast.
Disaster from start to finish!
Plumbing was diabolical. The noise of pipes, the vibrations shaking the whole hotel was unreal. My parents did not get any sleep for two nights and all the staff could say was sorry but carry out no work to resolve the extreme loud noise.
The cleanliness was poor.
Th breakfast was not very good whatsoever and once they ran out of items they had nothing to replenish.
Oh I could go on but why bother.
We arrived, decor very old and very tired. No kettle in room… despite teabags and cups.. had to request one. No telephone in room to contact reception. Not info given about Wi-Fi connection. No toilet roll. A horrendous noise coming from the hot tap and continually running through the night. Same person on reception and in breakfast room in the morning..she did not converse with guest…did not say good morning… nothing…a totally unsuitable place to call a hotel… it should be closed down. Unable to get any food from the restaurant or stinks from the bar… it would be insulting to call this a travel lodge because it had not even got the faculties of one. Dreadful place.
Unfortunately the worst night we have ever had in a hotel. The plumbing in our room was resonating all night. Sounded like a kango hammer. Greeted on arrival by kitchen staff who appeared to be doing various jobs. Not at all helpful. We tried to speak to the duty manager before we checked out but we're politely informed that there wasn't one and that our concerns would be passed on. We were told that the duty manager would ring us on Monday the next day. Guess what no call. So I am left with this posting. Perhaps we were unlucky but a call would have been nice. I did make a 14 second recording of the horrible noise but this site doesn't seem to be able to take anything but photos..
Very disappointed, I was in an annex room, which was cold, needed thicker curtains. Breakfast was extremely poor, only hot food left was 3 sausages, 1 egg and about a spoonful of beans. Soup bowls for the cereals, only 1 toaster. Only 1 member of staff to clear tables, replenish hot food it was totally unacceptable. Other members of my family that stayed that night also had complaints. My son in law and wife hardly slept, were disgusted by the breakfast and left. The room rates are too low, £53 for a double room including breakfast for 2 people is rediculously low. There needs to be more staff to have breakfast running smoothly. Unfortunately I wouldn't stay again and wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.
