The hotel was nice, staff pleasant, and overall clean. I was expecting a more modernized hotel room due to the pictures shown, but we must have been placed on a floor not yet updated. The hotel is rated a four star and I would say so if it were the 1990’s. Not bad, but definitely not a four star for 2025.

This property is in the center of it all. Amazing location and surprisingly quiet room. It has this classic look which is nice and beautiful but the rooms are so old and the bathrooms are 70s old. While I do like the classic look of the hotel and rooms are very outdated.

I didn’t have the breakfast, but the staff were terrific. The views are fantastic from the balconies, but it is located in a busy area which made last minute restaurant reservations a bit of a challenge (book ahead).

The location of Hotel Emperador is fantastic—right in the heart of Gran Vía, making it easy to explore Madrid on foot. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the rooftop pool and bar offer amazing views of the city. However, the rooms are a bit outdated and could use some renovation to match the rest of the hotel’s elegance. Overall, it’s a comfortable stay with great amenities, but the decor feels a little stuck in the past.

This was my second stay at the Hotel Emperador which I returned to with confidence that the stay would be worthwhile. Conveniently located on Gran Vía with the Santo Domingo Metro station just across the street, it was well located for our daily strolls through the Centro Histórico and beyond. Breakfast was terrific, albeit without variation from day to day. The front desk staff and bellmen were extremely helpful, assisting us with booking a flamenco performance and storing our luggage, respectively.
