There was no one at the front desk to check in!! We eventually figured out the self check in procedure. The desk for the adjoining hotel, Novotel, had three staff people at their front desk. One of them told me that the person who was supposed to be manning the Ibis desk must have gone on break. An hour later there was still no one there.

Perfect room, but...

The hotel room and the view were great and exactly what we needed to make our early international flight the next morning easier. However it was marred by a poor arrival experience and a confusing checkout experience. Arrival: We followed the instructions for the complimentary airport shuttle - standing right underneath the (only) sign for 'hotels and off-airport' shuttles. We were told the driver would arrive in 15-20 minutes. 40 minutes later we called the hotel again to check on progress and were told the driver had been and gone and asked us if we were waiting in the right place. It was another 20 minutes later that a van pulled up to a different waiting area (NOT between T2 & T1 as instructed) and it was lucky I walked down to check. The van had definitely not been past us earlier and nobody acknowledged our hour long wait in the rain. It wasn't just us either, there were two others also waiting. We knew that we needed to book a return shuttle for the morning, which required talking to the staff on the desk but we were made to queue for the self service kiosk and check in first, then queue again at the desk to book the shuttle. Checkout: On checkout the kiosk told us that a refund was owed so we needed to go to the desk. The staff member could not see the refund in the system, assumed it was the security deposit & assured us that it would automatically refund. It hasn't been refunded yet, but it's only been 36 hours. We'll keep an eye on it.

Within walking distance of the terminal. Small room but spotlessly clean. Staff were attentive and upgraded us upon check-in. Would stay again if flying to Melbourne with a connection the following day rather than heading to the CBD

I was extremely disappointed with your hotel's service on a couple of fronts: 1. I had arranged a complimentary shuttle to the hotel (as we had excess luggage. We waited at the bus rank (where we were advised) waited for 20 mins - no shuttle. I called the hotel and advised that we would need to wait another 15 mins. We waited another 20 mins no shuttle. I called again only to be advised that there was no suttle coming. Irrate we attempted to walk carrying all excess luggage. Having walked approx 200m we then see the shuttle bus turn up so we had to drop luggage run to shuttle to let them know we were there then go back and get the luggage. Very disappointed service. 2. Checkin - only one staff member available for checkin. We were about 5th in line then a large contingent of checkins arrived. We checked in - went to our room key issued would not open door. I went down to desk, felt uncomfortable pushing in (other patrons weren't happy) girl at front desk did not believe me that key would not work. She issue me another key. I went up and again key would not open room. Again I went down and advised key didn't work. She got another key and came up with me. Other checkin patrons were lefts to wait, they were not happy at all. The girl could not open our door so we got transferred to another room though had to go down again to get another key. Apart from the key issue only having one staff member to checkin all those people was very poor and it was late at night.
