Not so friendly

Hotel-5 star, the staff made it a 2 star. Loved the aesthetics, loved having restaurants, shop, and bowling in house. Front desk 1 star, Bowling staff 2 star, Lookout restaurant staff 4 star, bass pro cashier 2 star. You felt like the staff hated their jobs and were lackadaisical. The room was a 5 star. We expected more from the staff. We paid for the breakfast buffet, which had to be done in advance. It was basic, you should eat out. A woman who worked it was great, the man who worked it was not. He was crabbed out. It was not a pleasant experience due to the staff, except for 2 people. Also you cannot check in even 15 min early or we were told it was a 50.00 up charge. FYI

We reached the check in counter 3 whole minutes before check in and were told we could check in early for $50 or wait (by then) 2 minutes. The room was extremely nice. We had a nice dinner and made early reservations for the Roof Top on Sunday. We turned in with room service. About 10 pm full and happy we decided to sleep - about the time we dozed off we kept hearing a beep, beep, beep - I called the front desk and she said she would send someone up. An hour later - still beeping - I called back and they promised to send someone up. Finally about 11.30 a very nice maint guy came up. He diagnosed the problem as something in the HVAC and left to check it out. Somewhere around midnight we were given keys to a different room. I guess that is my main complaint. This was my stress getaway and a good nights sleep. That didn't happen as we were moved to a tree house & awoken at 6 am by a screaming child in the hallway. I would also like to add Hotels.com lists these rooms (the exterior we had in the beginning anyway) as sound proof. So not sound proof. I paid a lot of money to not sleep in a nice hotel room.

From the moment we checked in to the time we left we felt pampered. It was my boyfriend's birthday and Tony gave excellent restaurant recommendations and a cute, and very yummy, small cake. There were snacks in the room. The theming is on point. There are so many comfortable places to sit and just enjoy the world around you. The view from the observation deck is breathtaking. We really enjoyed the Walbergers Wild restaurant in the store. Worth every penny. Would definitely stay again.

We loved the property! It is very unusual but very well done. We would have liked there to be some way to have a light breakfast instead of the full breakfast buffet; juice, fruit, muffin. And while we're at it, how about turning the neon lights off at 11PM, only guests are in the building at that hour and it would look like a fishing camp instead of a roadside bar. Otherwise we loved it and will come back and recommend it to others.
