There was an issue with checking in.. Apparently someone with the same name as me had already checked in earlier that same day. I was asked to wait to the side while they “investigated”. My family and I were questioned, where am I coming from? Who are we meeting here? Whats purpose of visit ? (Let’s back track a bit, we drove over 8 hours and it was half past 10pm in the evening, we are exhausted. We just want to go get into our room) Finally after waiting on the side of the front desk while 3 men whispered and tried to find a solution. Finally one of the receptionist called me over and said “someone with your name checked in earlier, not to worry we have found another room for you” I never met anyone in my over 40 years of existence met anyone with my same exact name.. and to top it off.. did they ask for ID when checking in ? Wouldn’t there be TWO reservations in “the exact name”. I’m having a hard time believing that. I was too tired to question anything, I was concerned about my identity the entire time. I did get a few “I’m sorry” and I’m sure they were apologetic, the experience was so unique, unpleasant and the weekend to celebrate an anniversary and my wife’s birthday started off very upsetting. I wouldn’t expect an upgrade or anything of much financial value, but a hand written note left after room service would have been nice.. but NOPE.. didn’t get room service either, we had to stop someone in hallway for a towel. Wouldn’t come back at all..

The front staff were exceptionally courteous. While the hotel does not have a spa, it offers spa services in the rooms. These services are provided in the order of your booking. Our spacious and quiet room was meticulously cleaned. The friendly front staff provided exceptional service. The hotel is centrally located, conveniently situated near numerous attractions and restaurants. To obtain food, guests must make a reservation at the Henri Brasserie Francaise restaurant located in the lobby.

Awesome experience at The Birk Hotel

Our recent stay at The Birk Hotel in Montreal was truly exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the professionalism, attentiveness, and warm hospitality of the staff. The Reception, Concierge, and Porter services were exemplary and contributed greatly to a seamless experience. The accommodations were immaculate, comfortable, and thoughtfully maintained. The daily provision of complimentary bottled water was a welcome touch that reflected the hotel’s commitment to guest comfort. Overall, our experience was extraordinary, and we look forward to returning. Without hesitation, we will choose The Birk Hotel for our next visit to Canada.

Lovely, but we didn’t understand the reason the staff did not come in and make the bed and clean up. We would get a knock on the door around five asking us if we needed anything. However, no one had come in and emptied the trash bins or made the bed or exchanged any dirty towels.

This is a luxury hotel run like a Holiday Inn Express. Had a very pricey room but every day had to call down for at least two things. Coffee. Creams, Facecloths. Robes. A wet floor. Robes again (housekeeping inexplicably removed them one day and when replacements were sent, they were cheap terry waffle robes, not what we had before. When I wrote to the hotel in advance to indicate a special occasion, they responded with a list of things I could buy, not things they could do. A cheap bottle of Prosecco was thrust at me by a housekeeper just after we’d checked in. Complaints fell on deaf ears. Biggest complaint? Noise! Cheap windows. Couldn’t even watch tv due to street noise which they clearly knew of. They should have warned the room was susceptible. I’d gave booked another. Ended around 11pm.
