When we checked in the staff was friendly, but when we got to our room, there was a roach that was crawling on with a coffee machine is and then when we were departing, there was two more roaches that were in our room. We told the front desk agent and she said that she was sorry.

The hallway smelled like cigarettes. The doorways and handles were beat up and paint extremely chipped. It seemed like the air conditioner’s air handler was right outside our window. A streetlight was shining directly into our window, and since our curtains were sheer, there was no way to block the light. Needless to say, it was a terrible night’s sleep.

We had a great stay at Calypso Cay Holiday Inn. It is exactly what the pictures convey: clean, well-kept, renovated. We were with kids (2,4) and it was perfect for our stay. Included breakfast was basic but still had hot items every day on a rotating schedule. The 3 heated pools were great, 2 had the beach-style entry for little ones, hot tubs were nice for the adults. Both were much more crowded on the weekends, but not to the point that we didn’t enjoy ourselves. We didn’t use the included mini golf, pickleball, basketball, but with older kids they would be appreciated. The staff were very nice, friendly. A schedule of afternoon activities, and nightly movies projected by the pool was a fun touch. Overall pros: conveniences for families made our stay easy and comfortable, and close to the parks and to shopping, etc. Would recommend. Cons: the interior hallways could use some love, same goes for the outdoor dining area. Just know it’s not a 4-star hotel, and you will have a good time.

Everything was good, staff, service, property were great. The only issue was that one of the mattresses looks like it was a bit collapsed and was a bit uuncomfortable.
