I have used this hotel four times this last year as a stopover for trips from south Devon to Scotland and overall have been pleased with the facilities and service provided. Meals have been excellent and the rooms comfortable and clean. My only concern has been with the service in the dining room: the staff are all delightfully friendly and welcoming but on each of my visits service has been very slow - it took 40 minutes last night for drinks we’d ordered to arrive and our meals a further 10. We weren’t the only ones waiting far too long. I’m sure some training or perhaps a shake up of procedures in the kitchen itself might help. Having driven over 350 miles yesterday I didn’t appreciate being kept waiting so long for my dinner!

Perfect location for exploring Helvellyn. Staff were attentive and friendly. We took our dog with us and they looked after all of us. Pub had great atmosphere. Would stay here again.

Very friendly and excellent service

Picturesque location and very nice hotel. Room was clean and comfortable. Restaurant was lovely - dinner and breakfast were both delicious. Staff were friendly and attentive.

The room we had had a problem with the toilet. It took ages to stop filling up & at one point the flusher stayed down so we had no toilet in our room. We went down for breakfast today at 9am only to find the landlord had overslept so the place was all closed up. Even the staff were waiting outside to get in. One member of staff, Natalie , was a great member of staff & very helpful. Great location for the town but very casual approach.
