Just a wonderful resort. Our second trip here and it’s the best we’ve been to in Mauritius.

Luxury with a Heart We had an absolutely wonderful stay at SALT of Palmar. Everything, from the food to the accommodation was truly five-star, and the level of service consistently exceeded our expectations. All of the staff were exceptional and genuinely went above and beyond to ensure every guest had the best possible experience. One of the highlights of our trip was the privilege of visiting a local school for students with disabilities, supported by the hotel. The school caters to children as young as five through to young adults, and the work being done there is genuinely inspiring. The hotel’s support goes far beyond simple donations—they have helped furnish spaces such as a music room and contribute to practical life skills training, including making beds, setting cutlery, laundry, and more. Their fitness coach also visits regularly to support sporting activities. What stood out most was how modest the hotel is about these efforts—you wouldn’t know about this incredible work unless you spoke to the manager. It’s definitely worth asking about if you visit. There was absolutely no pressure to contribute, but like many schools, they are always in need of resources and equipment. If you are planning a stay, it may be worthwhile bringing along items such as stationery, toys, or other useful supplies. Monetary contributions are also welcomed, but entirely optional. First off we booked a room close to where daughter lived with the expectation she could come and hang out with us in the evening. When we checked in we were told she was only allowed to go to the bar. She couldn’t come to our room at all. This should have been listed in the write up of the room or at least posted in our confirmation. Second we booked the room with the tub and surrounding windows(we paid extra for that room). The tub did not ever have hot water. We mentioned to staff several times and they said they were told it was fixed but it was not. The windows were broken. One was open when we checked in and we really had to struggle to close. On last day we opened another one and we couldn’t get it to close. There was a table in the room and you couldn’t really work at it because it wasn’t level and rocked. The second to last night we had been out and we were going up to the bar to hang out with my daughter. The staff at the front desk stopped us and told us that it was too late. Again never told that there was a time limit. I asked to speak to the Manager and expressed my all of my frustrations. He apologized and then allowed us to come up for a drink. He comped drinks. The staff was very nice and tried to accommodate. My biggest complaint was we were never told these policies from booking. The hotel itself really could use a little more updating.
