We booked the executive room, like the one we enjoyed on past visits, but on this occasion it was disappointing. The check in wait was long but we got our room in reasonable time. The room was fine but overlooked the entry hallway and stairs to a party room. The noise from all the activities was extremely disrupting. In the daytime it wasn't a bother but in late hours the sound of deep base disrupted our sleep. Our complaints were noted but the hotel could not correct this at the time. The staff in general were pleasant but lacked training in hospitality. This was noticeable at breakfast. We were seated in a dark annex with no attentive staff. The seating management was poor, they even placed other guests on our table after we went to get food. The breakfast selection was reasonable but not always available and getting a coffee wasn't an easy experience. The staff kept getting basic requests wrong or simply forgetting about them. The following day was a small improvement. We had the executive suite access and enjoyed it the most. The young lady serving that area was attentive. The spa was ok, although many children occupied the loungers so we only stayed a short time. Because we had a serious complaint with our stay, the manager respectfully offered compensation at check out. This is still to be received after two weeks. For a five star hotel a drop in standard of service is noticeable. It saddens me not to recommend staying here as the place is a grand venue.
