For staying in the core of Pittsburgh, Homewood Suites is a fantastic option! It is close enough to the main downtown hub to walk while still being just outside to enjoy easier parking and drives (the hotel is technically downtown). There are ample places nearby, such as the strip, museums, and water. There’s a huge hill behind the hotel for those who like interesting terrains to view.
The hotel itself was wonderful. The staff was amazing, always attentive, personable, and polite. The breakfast was middle of the road, but good. My only minor gripes were the noise level from the room above. I could hear them all night, though it wasn’t a deal-breaker. Also, our tub faucet turned all over the place and felt like it could come off at any moment. Hopefully, that was just our room.
There is parking below the hotel, though, I would assume it could be difficult during peak times. Staff provide you with a permit to use the open air lot adjacent to the building. Guests do have to pay for parking privileges. There is a loading zone to be used for up to 15 minutes while checking in and loading to leave. I found folks just park their cars there and leave them, which is frustrating. The zone is on the Smallman Street side.
Overall a great experience and I would stay again!!
