We stayed at the Wyndham Altra in Playa del Carmen from October 28, 2025 to November 2, 2025.. It was a beautiful hotel. It was close to 5th Ave, and the staff was great. We've stayed here 14 times starting from when it was the Grand porto Real, then changing hands to the Panama Jack resort and then to the present Wyndham Altra. Over the years it has had a lot of changes. The only things you will have to be aware of is that there is a very small beach area. The resort closes the drink areas at 11:00 p.m. There are not as many activities offered as there once was as well. It is a phenomenal resort if you are just going to relax without any distractions. It would be great for an elderly crowd.

The resort and the rooms were very clean. The staff at this resort is amazing at customer service. We were treated very nice by everyone we came in contact with at the resort. The activities group was amazing. They have a lot of activities that get customers involved and make for a fun atmosphere. The food at the buffet was excellent and a wide variety of foods for every liking. The steakhouse, Italian and Mexican restaurants had amazing food with amazing service.

Property is very well kept food at the restaurants was great food at the breakfast buffet was great evening buffet was okay. Staff was above and beyond they truly make the experience wonderful. I’m a paraplegic I was able to get around but would have loved to been able to get into the pool. Staff was always there and willing to navigate tuff areas. I would definitely return if there were a pool lift or ramp for pool. Thank you staff for a wonderful experience!

The rooms are nice. Food was OK. The parking was not good. You had to pay for the parking from 10 A.M. to 4pm and then he had to go back to the meter and pay from 4 to 10 P.M. The parking meters only took change Mexican coinsor else they would put a boot on your car. Also, there’s not beach access to this hotel.

Ok, first, this is not a 4 1/2 star hotel, I give a 3 or 3.5 Pros: friendly staff, good food, nice activities, good location, good price. Cons: No parking, sargazo smell was terrible, very small beach, no bar at the pool level 😢😭 But, overall it was a nice experience, Juan at front desk was amazing and Miguel at the pool bar was outstanding, I can’t forget about Katia she did a great job too

Staff were excellent and friendly. Rooms were clean. Service was great. The only two issues I had was that some of the food was over salted every day. I did mention this to the server and I could not turn my air condition down as low as I have it on at home.
