We just needed a place to stay an unplanned night and picked Tropicana because of the price and location. It's a fine hotel. The staff (aside from the woman working at the reception desk handing out the AC and TV controllers) was very nice and attentive. We had an interior room which was ok for one night, but I think if I were on a longer stay it would be a bit of a let down, and would recommend a room with a balcony. I also think we were in the older side of the property, but can't be certain because we weren't there long enough to explore. Overall, the hotel is dated but still has a charm to it. Like I noted earlier, "fine" is the best way to describe it.

When i first read the reviews for this resort most people said that the hotel was not a new hotel but for the age of the hotel it was well kept and comfortable. I never pay to much money for resorts since i dont spend much time in my room and what's the point to spend so much and all you do is sleep in it. I highly recommend this hotel for courteous staff and approachable comfortable rooms with a lovely view nice pools and its a beachfront hotel with outside amenities and beach service. If you don't want to spend to much for a room and be comfortable and very close to all the restaurants souvenir shops and bars this is a great spot. Thank you hotel tropicana for a lovely time and courteous staff.

Lovely, clean room but a fridge and coffee maker would’ve made a big difference. The staff was really good but I don’t think it should be so difficult to get ice.

Tropicana has seen better days. Room was comfortable but toaster was broken, frying pan unusable, no lids for pots. All were replaced when reported. Staff was very friendly except for restaurant staff that has odd hours. Waiters are slightly 'grumpty'... Shower in room leaked and appeared moldy or rusted at joints. It was fixed the same day we complained. Location is wonderful - right on the beach. Overall, a good place to stay if you are not fussy about perfection and newness.

We were upgraded from garden view to ocean view, and we were delighted. The sliding door in the room was broken, and could not be closed, so it was open about 3 feet wide. It was fixed in 2 days, but with the door open, we could hear the ocean and no bugs ever came into the room, so we left it open the whole time. Air conditioning was effective. They use only a single key card, which must be inserted in a holder in the room for power to turn on in the room. A single card made it difficult for two of us to operate independently. With the key left in the holder to keep electricity on, the person leaving for a walk had no key card. It wasn't a huge issue for us. The grounds were wonderful, with lots of exotic tropical plants blooming or having fruit (star fruit trees by the pool). The two pools were very good, with varying depths from only a few inches deep, to needing to stand on tiptoes to keep head above water. The pools do not have a meaningful view of the ocean or beach, but there are a few tiny peekaboo views. The permanent palapas and the daily installed umbrellas are good tor sun protection. the two chairs per location are decent, but do not allow laying down flat like a lounge chair would. The beach opens at 8 am, and there is a line at the gate to the beach for people who want to rush out and claim the best spots. One time, I left by the front door, and walked around to the public portion of the beach before 8 am, so that I could just sit down.

During our 4 day stay we never once had working wifi in our room. Way overpriced for a basic room with a kitchenette. Also disappointed in the far end of the Romantic Zone location and the distance from everything we like to experience. We loved the beautiful beach for a great relaxing day close to room.

Both, the room was neglected and the staff less than helpful. Our toilet was not working, flushing only partially. when we asked for maintenance an employee came up and just flushed our toilet 9 times until clean. We needed to use a bucket of water to flush. We asked to change rooms but the manager said there was nothing she could do they were full. I checked on line and I found there were rooms available. Also the room was very dated and slightly shabby. We've stayed at the Tropicana many times in the past but it seems to have declined considerably. I gave it a 2 star only because of the great location and cleanliness of the public areas.

The room is very clean. The maids did a great job. Check in was smooth. Check out was smooth. it’s a great location and the staff is friendly. The hotel could use some updating but it’s not a dealbreaker. Bed was comfortable the linens were fine. Overall it’s a safe and clean place to stay with a good location.

Very nice staff. Breakfast was good. Beds are very hard, difficult to get a good sleep. Nice location on the beach. Unfortunately, there is a side street from my tower so I was woken up early every morning due to noise and car traffic. The hotel doesn’t allow any guests onto the property which I had no idea about when I booked this place. It was not on the Expedia listing terms or the hotel website which I feel is not being honest. Therefore. I am writing this review to let others know in advance so you are not surprised. I will not be back at this hotel again unfortunately. I’ve never been to a hotel in my life where you can’t have guests. I will stay somewhere else next time.
