Excellence. El CARMEN is a great resort in every way. The staff are amazing and always willing to go the extra mile to make sure you’re comfortable. The ocean area is gorgeous and beach service is amazing. We had great meals at all the restaurants we went to although we weren’t able to get to the mall in the time we were there. Good experience from the beginning to the end.

Excellence has become something close to a vacation home for us this was our 4th visit. We had an unfortunate airport/airline experience. Our return flight was cancelled and we were bused to a nearby so called 5 star resort for the night. It made me realize why some people don’t like “all inclusive” resorts! There was simply no comparison! The staff from Cloudy and Alejandra in the coffee shop, the entertainment team Brenda, Mini cooper. Even the ground keepers made us so welcomed. Great group of guests with a broad range of ages….. not just young, not just old. In short, I think it’s about the best choice in the Punta Cana area.

I like the food and drink options. Its a very nice quiet resort. I enjoyed the activities and they really left you alone to enjoy. I tried to change the liquor type in my room and they couldnt help. Room was ok but not great

We recently returned from a trip here and had a wonderful time. It seems to be a younger crowd but at the same time not a bunch of obnoxious partying. It had a very good, chill vibe. There are multiple dining options that were pretty good although some are closed on different days. The buffet is only open for breakfast and then there is a smaller beach buffet available for lunch. If you have been to all inclusive resorts before, the food is about what you would expect. It was no better or worse than the other places we have stayed at. Room service was quick and decent as well. I also don’t expect 5 star dining when I travel to all inclusives so my bar is set pretty low for food. Drinks were also about what you would expect. The staff are great and they do a lot to make sure you have what you need. I will say, and this is on hotel management and the owners, the room and pool definitely need some love. Everything was clean but it is definitely showing wear and tear for not being that old. Nothing was a deal breaker-just expected everything to be in better condition or more luxurious. For example, the couch in our room was snagged and pilling, wood was scratched, there were water marks on the wood, the pool had tiles missing or coming undone, etc. I realize I have pretty high standards for the rooms at places like this. All in all, I would stay here again and would recommend this to other people as long as you aren’t expecting top of the line rooms.
