The hotel room was very nice clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The pool area was attractive, but unfortunately too crowded to enjoy, and the jacuzzi was over capacity, which made it less appealing. There are plenty of dining options nearby, which is a definite plus. However, we wouldn’t recommend the on-site steakhouse. The calamari was overcooked and overall poorly presented. If you're looking for a quality dining experience, you're better off exploring one of the many nearby restaurants.

We chose the hotel for its proximity to old Quebec and because it had a room with enough beds for my family. Check in was fine and the hotel lobby looked fine although there were staff members smoking at both entrances (in front and back). When we got to our room in the afternoon we dropped off our bags and went straight to walk around the old town. When we returned after dark. We discovered several issues that should have been taken care of by housekeeping/ maintenance. - 2 out of 3 lamps in the main room didn’t work - the switch was broken off one and had been left on the desk, and the other lamp had a burned out bulb - the blackout curtains were partially off the hooks so we had to climb up and rehang them - there was NO HOT WATER. The following day they told us there had been an issue on the roof?! -the tv remote did not work and needed to be reprogrammed - it took half an hour for maintenance to come to our room which meant we were trying to get ready for bed in the partial darkness using our phone flashlights, and then maintenance came in while we were changing for bed. - an hour later (closer to midnight) another maintenance person knocked on our door “to help set up the bed”. We had not requested this and were woken up unnecessarily The hotel manager offered to refund parking (? We didn’t have any issues with parking) but not reduce the cost of the room which was over $400. I paid for hot water and light. Also - city view overlooks speakers and a loud

Good food options, but a little pricy. Nice big bed, fluffy pillows. Pool was smaller than expected and very busy, but there was live music in the evening which was an unexpected surprise. Check out was fast and easy with no surprise fees.

Cool hotel design, with a pool in the center. Great location downtown near the old city and restaurants and shops. Room was large and comfortable with a balcony overlooking the pool.

Extremely Disappointed – Pool Injury, No First Aid & No Hot Water Our stay at Royal Palace Hotel was ruined by an unsafe pool and poor service. While our son was playing in the pool, he cut his foot—likely on the drain—leaving an open wound. Reception had no proper first aid kit. After a delay, staff returned with random pads and two alcohol wipes—no bandaids. For a hotel serving international guests, this is unacceptable. He remained in pain the next day and missed our morning plans. When a supervisor finally called, there was no apology—just a $50 refund offer and dismissive comments like, “That’s how the pool is built,” and “It wasn’t bleeding, so it shouldn’t matter.” Before any of this happened - one of the hotel staff also came to the pool and asked for us to scan our room key to prove we were hotel guests. This was highly insulting and they didn’t ask any other guests at the pool to do this – do they actually think we were trying to sneak into their pool? To top it off, on our last night there was no hot water for over an hour. Our kids had to go to bed sweaty and uncomfortable. A deeply disappointing experience for what would otherwise be a nice hotel. Families should be warned.

The hotel had all the practical amenities & is in excellent proximity to the entrance to Old Quebec City. There is plenty of storage in the rooms, a good sized mini fridge, microwave & espresso machine (I preferred the restaurant coffee over the provided pods & coffee mate). The provided shampoo, conditioner & body wash are in dispensers mounted in the shower, which was fine. The air conditioning worked well. The in-room amenities were generally moderate quality, but served their purpose. The room itself looked dated & tired - my duvet had a red stain (possibly nail polish) on it and there were other unclean marks around the room, the bathroom door keeper was stuck - so my trust in the cleanliness & maintenance of the room was shaky. Housekeeping is graduated - services increased with each day in the room. This seemed to be a family-centred hotel which meant a bit more noise at times & kids dominating the pool & hot tub. The sauna was in a dark corner of the gym which also seemed too remote & darkly lit to want to use it. The indoor pool & hot tub are decently maintained. Younger children were permitted in the hot tub. Service was generally fine, but staff seemed a bit stretched. We came to this hotel after being at a hotel where the staff really went out of their way to ensure we enjoyed our stay, so the difference was noticeable, but perhaps not an entirely fair comparison with the Palace Royal perhaps being a large hotel understaffed for its size.

Having the pool was great and proximity to walk into city center. If you have never been to Quebec this location couldn't be any easier to see everything you want to see in the city center.

Great location, horrible breakfast

Positives: The rooms were comfortable and quiet. The staff was friendly and helpful. Having a balcony overlooking the pool area was wonderful and the live music on Friday night was great. The location was great being just outside the wall to the old city. Negatives: There appeared to be black grime (mold?) around the sink, handles in the shower and on the ceiling in the bathroom. The smell of chlorine from the pool was very strong in the hallways and on the balcony. The hotel breakfast was extremely overpriced and pretty awful. The crepes were rubbery and there were fruit flies buzzing all around the uncovered food.
