Great location. Amazing views. However, they didn’t give me the lakeview which was booked via Expedia. We then had to be delayed by an hour where they logged in to their Expedia system and found out we had lakeview but apparently they were not advised by Expedia and so had to go through the delayed inconvenience of dragging our luggage with kids to wrong room and then had to change rooms again. The manager on duty Valentina wasn’t communicating during all these delays and once complained to the front staff the manager approached me saying she is still looking into it. Also the fact Expedia VIP perk free drinks were not provided. On the last night before our departure when I mentioned this only then we were provided the drink voucher. They asking us to complain to Expedia as apparently it’s all Expedia fault. Well it’s your duty to work with Expedia with all these communication issues between your hotel and them and not my duty. You need to talk to them to fix up the issues your customer is facing

This was my favorite place I stayed during my trip, and this included a nice “resort”, a”spa”, and a “lodge”. Roma in Riccarton just made me feel taken care of - she showed me how to work all the buttons, gave me tips on places to go, gave me a little glass bottle of milk, and there was a glass pitcher of water waiting in the fridge. It was so clean and they cleaned during my stay which so many places don’t do any more. The bath products made the whole place smell lovely and the netted tub was divine. There was a welcome binder carefully out together with the menus from nearby restaurants. Just little details that made me feel taken care of. Netflix on tv was a nice touch for a little binge watching after a long day of hiking . I don’t usually leave reviews but this deserved one.

The hotel itself and the staff was very nice. When we checked in the room smelled like cigarettes but they were able to fix this within a few hours. Parking at this hotel is a problem. We struggled to find a spot every night, especially the last night. People were parked all over the place. I was disappointed because I expect a spot when paying for parking. I would stay here again and would recommend it for the property itself but they need to work out the parking issue.

Room was generally clean, but we did find a piece of pasta left inside the electric kettle. I guess the previous guest had used it to cook pasta, and unfortunately the housekeeper hadn’t cleaned it properly. When I called to report it, I was expecting a more sincere apology from the receptionist. The next day, when we went out to explore the city and returned in the afternoon, our room still hadn’t been cleaned, even though we had left the “please clean the room” tag on the door. I had to call reception again to request housekeeping. To be fair, the housekeeping lady was very polite, efficient, and did an excellent job once she arrived. However, given the number of rooms on the floor, it seemed more staff were needed, as only one person had been assigned to cover them all. On the positive side, the hotel’s location was excellent. It wasn’t right in the busy city center, but also not too far — just about a 20-minute walk to the center, with a very pleasant walkway alongside. I personally didn’t try the hotel breakfast, but my sons did and they really enjoyed it.

It's a nice area to stay. The rooms are clean and a good size. They stored our luggage for a day free of charge, as we stayed one night in Milford Sound and came back. The hotel has a small laundry room (3 washing machines and 2 dryers). It operates with NZ$2 coins. You can request them at reception. Parking costs NZ$15 per night, which could be included in the price, as they're not other options in the area to park.

Bed was very worn out and springs gone on one side. Felt like falling out all night. The breakfast is very expensive for what you get. The pool/spa/sauna was a great feature but pool/spa are quite dated.

I stayed at this property because I was attended a conference that was held here, I wouldn't have normally stayed here even know I know it is really nice but because I thought it was to far from town... I went for my morning walk/run and was surprised that it did not take me long to get to town or the gardens at all. 10 out 10 will definitely stay again
