Not as nice as it seems from the photographs.

While I rarely leave negative reviews, I feel it’s important to share this honestly. The hotel, though priced at a premium, showed signs of neglect in cleanliness, maintenance, and customer care. I offer this reflection in the hope that the management receives it constructively, and that future guests can make an informed decision. The hotel itself is a lovely, historic building, and there is plenty of parking. Staff were friendly when we first arrived. Here are the points to note: *Dirty quilt cover (brown mark) - reported to manager but not changed. *Dust everywhere. *Very Dirty windows. *Dirty mirrors. *Shower stuck on roasting hot - manager not there in the evening so nothing done until much later the next day when it was too late, as we needed to shower in the morning for our daughters graduation. Could not move rooms as hotel full. *Sink tap drips and taps not cleaned. *Bed rock hard - felt like sleeping on a block of concrete. *Half a toilet roll in the bathroom on arrival for a 3 day stay. Had to go and ask for more. *Bathroom door didn't lock. *Main areas look impressive at first but when you look closer, you could see the stairs carpet had not been hoovered for quite some time. *Included continental breakfast had a very poor selection of food, and was offered in a very dirty and grimy environment. The floors had not been swept and mopped for a long time as there was crumbs, stains, dead flies, empty packets of sugar etc. under and around the tables.

Friendly Staff and Spacious Rooms

The staff were welcoming, even asked if we needed help taking our luggage to our room. The room was big and spacious, did have issues trying to turn the temperature down on the shower, but manage to work it out in the end. Went to the bar in the evening, very relaxing, the only downside was due to beibg short staff, they were struggling to keep on top of the washing up. Had a lovely sleep and the continental breakfast was good, staff did ask if we wanted to upgrade to a cooked breakfask, but we declined. Checkout was simple and easy, would definitely stay again.

Beautiful property but ran a bit like faulty towers. My friend had no teabags, got teabags and discovered no kettle! Breakfast was very limited and items ran out. Asked for them to be replenished and it never was! The bed was comfy.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, it was just a shame that they had run out of some essential provisions such as white sugar and coke. The hotel has lots of potential, but is badly in need of some care and attention, the dining area chandeliers had a lot of cobwebs and the paintwork generally could do with touching up.

I was’nt expecting much in view of the price being charged . The room was old and outdated . The dining room was dirty . I paid £5 extra for a cooked breakfast but the cook didn’t turn up for a 7 am start . I need to get away early and wasn’t prepared to wait . The cheese and ham for the continental breakfast was similar to cardboard .

Hit and miss with what room you get, some much better than others. Most recent stay was the worst to date with an uncomfortable bed etc - makes it hard to give a bad review because staff are great, it’s just very inconsistent with what you get; and the price constantly fluctuates week on week

The first room i was given hadnt been used it smelled , mould the bed was so small the bathroom was disgusting. Wemt to reception no manager on site ! Was given the card machine to get a refund , just to get rid of me because they had a wedding arriving . They had no spare rooms the young man was training and another man dressed in a t shirt was training him . I asled for the manager the tpung man went to get them and came back qnd said there wasmt one mmm why go and look for one . I coupd email them . Half an hour or so later the young man alled me over theyve had a cancellation but its exclusive room i could go and have a look , then the t shirt man said they had a twin room but that was near qhere our first room was . I said the stairs are too dangerous. I asked for a fan cos the air con didnt work. We asked to book for dinner but the restaurant was shut becaise its set for a wedding . We went somwwhere else. We booked breakfast for 9am. When we came down at 9am for brealfast continental was all empty. We jad to clear a table to sit at in the bar area . We waited 10 mins for someone to come out to take our order , the other was taken my Hammad very rude man we asked what was on the menu he didnt understand us . Then michelle came out 10 mins later to tell me i hadnt ordered breakfast amd i hadnt paid , but the toung man from frodsy said we could have a free breakfast for our trouble . Menu on first evening was poor. Very little available. Had to wait 45 minutes for meal once chosen and nobody else in restaurant having a meal. Breakfast good as we had cooked but poor availability around it. Only fruit was apple. Couldn’t get hot water in the room. Cold shower and even cold in basin.
